I'll Be Yours
The Americans Lyrics
Please to meet you, mister, you said softly after he caught you eye
You took the sip the corners your lips turned up upon his reply
Sometime on that evening he took your hand and lead you from the floor
What it pleasure
Was it grieving
That found me wrapped and seething by your door
Your hearts beat boldly
Like mission bells
My head was exploding
You sing me to sleep at night
Wake me with a sharp bite
Every morning
You cry out loud
Has it been squandered
Hold on a little longer and I will be yours
Read to me your stories
And I'll follow along with open eyes
Their faces and their names
And the places where they've been I'll recognize
I'll stand beside them
I will learn the things they've come to know
Their just as you described them
You and I could never be alone
I watched your tongue slip across you lips
I had my heart set
I had no control of it
It was all in a moment
Your body unburdened
Later on, you would turn to me and say
Would you come sit near me
You sing me to sleep at night
Wake me with a sharp bite
Every morning
Crying out loud
Has it been squandered
Hold on a little longer and I will be yours
Waiting on another lonely evening for you
I just can't be still
The crickets chirp
The walls stir
There's no part of me not aching for a thrill
I could spend a lifetime 50 hours gazing at the wall
If it could be like old times we wouldn't have to go no where at all
It felt like all evening
I held your body breathing
So that I was still wide awake
And you said I must be leavin
You sing me to sleep at night
Wake me with a sharp bite
Every morning
You cry out loud
Has it been squandered
Hold on a little longer and I will be yours
This thing only tune I'm humming
If it's long in and coming
I don't mind
You asked me
How am I doing
Everything is ruined
And I say fine
You asked me
How am I doing
Asked me like I am stupid
And I say fine
Oh----------
Oh----------

The composition of the songwriting is remarkable in this album, as this song showcases. It takes you on its high and lows and makes you want to keep replaying and replaying this album. Can't wait to get a 45 and play it all the way through, thanks for the music 'The Americans' and 'Loose Music'!

Why is the dislike count so high? Great song, so this must have something to do with the band or some controversy in the process cause it doesn't make sense
