What day is today?

The day when there will be no mercy

Don't The Mercy

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Angels' song "Don't Need Mercy" are a powerful commentary on the human condition and the struggle for survival in a harsh and unforgiving world. The opening line, "What day is today?" sets the tone for the rest of the song, as it implies a sense of urgency and impending doom. The next line, "The day when there will be no mercy," underscores the theme of the lyrics, which is that in life, there are no second chances, no forgiveness, and no mercy.

Throughout the rest of the song, the lyrics paint a picture of a world that is dark and unrelenting, where people are forced to fight for their very survival, and where kindness and compassion are rare commodities. The line "Don't The Mercy" is both a plea and a demand for recognition of this harsh reality. It is a call to arms for all those who are struggling to survive in this world, urging them to fight with all their might and never give up, no matter how tough the going gets.

Overall, "Don't Need Mercy" is a powerful and thought-provoking song that speaks to the human condition in a way that is both raw and honest. Its lyrics reflect the grit and determination of the human spirit and remind us that even in the most difficult of circumstances, we are capable of extraordinary feats.

Great to see this clip again! I am actually the boy playing lead guitar. And here's a funny story for you. That role inspired me to learn electric guitar. Fast forward 15 years later and I ended up playing in Doc Neeson's Angels in 2007 for real. Talk about full circle. When we were driving to a gig I showed Doc a picture of us both when this clip was made, it made his day. RIP Doc

That's awesome Luke, I assumed that the kids in the clip were the son's of the band members - particularly the dude playing Doc's role - looks like a younger version of him?!

Hey Luke - I'm the guy who played the red guitar and was told to stand still! Awesome story mate. Hope you're well.

I miss my CD single of this. It was my favourite song for 4 years then due to unforseen circumstances the physical CD single became my shaving mirror. not a joke, something about the way the CD was pressed left it as a perfect fog free waterproof mirror. With a tiny bit of moisture a CD will easily stick to a shower wall, and it stayed my favorite song and shaving mirror for 20 years and 12 house shifts until last year when we shifted and I forgot to pry it out of the shower. The landlord's don't know, the current tenants don't care, I feel like I've lost a little piece of me. I would dearly love the original pressing of this CD single if anyone has it.
