Rhythm Rude Girl
The Angels Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Show me that rhythm
Show me body talk
Got no inhibitions
No reserve at all
She's electric
She just seems to feel it
She got soul affection in the way she walk
Turn into liquid
With her legs on fire
Gold and feathers
Hanging by a thread

Fuel for fantasy
Smoother than an angel
Sweat fed dancer, born and bred

She's so out of reach
Baby I can learn what you can teach
She's a rhythm rude girl

Move it up baby
In your silver shoes
You're in the spotlight
You got all the moves

Fuel for fantasy
Lips dig into danger
Sweat fed dancer, born and bred

She's so out of reach

Baby I can learn what you can teach
She's a rhythm rude girl

Overall Meaning

The Angels' song "Rhythm Rude Girl" is an ode to a woman with an unstoppable rhythm and body language that keeps everyone mesmerized. The song opens with the singer asking the woman to show him her rhythm and body talk, as she seems to have no inhibitions or reserves. She's described as electric, and she just seems to feel the rhythm deep down in her soul. It's evident in the way she walks that she has a certain soul affection that's hard to miss.

The chorus of the song implies that the woman is somewhat of a mystery and is untouchable. The singer acknowledges that she's out of reach but is willing to learn everything she can. He refers to her as a "rhythm rude girl," a woman who is confident in her abilities and is not afraid to show them off.

The second verse talks about the woman's appearance and how she looks like she's turned into liquid with legs on fire. She's adorned in gold and feathers and seems to be fuel for everyone's fantasy. Her moves are smoother than an angel, and she's a sweat-fed dancer who was born to move to the rhythm of the music.

Overall, "Rhythm Rude Girl" is a celebration of a woman's ability to move to the rhythm of the music without any inhibitions, and the admiration that everyone has for her.

I interviewed Doc for a Perth radio station right when Beyond Salvation came out and subsequently had a beer with the band after a show. They were all cool. Great guys. They told me they recorded every show and listened to it after the show, usually on their way to the next gig. As tight as they were live, they always worked to tighten it up, wherever they could. They were real pros. Legends.

This is one of the best albums the Angels brought out, or is it the most refreshing album they brought out in a long time......

Never heard of The Angels until 5 "Angels" tracks ago after hearing them playing on an Aussie internet radio show this afternoon. I've had a blast so far.. Fantastic stuff!
