When the Time Comes
The Angels Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

(Brewster-Neeson-Amanda Brewster)
Howling wind, let it blow
Easy come, easy go
When the time comes
You'll be the first to know
Late at night, dressed to kill
How could I hold you still
When the time comes
You'll be the first to know
When the time comes
You'll be the first to know
Hold me lover, take me down
Come on over my side of town
When the time comes
When the time comes
You'll be the first to know

When the time comes...

Overall Meaning

The Angels' song "When the Time Comes" is about a lover who is waiting for the right timing to reveal their feelings. The lyrics use imagery of a howling wind and the idea of easily letting things go to convey the uncertainty and unpredictability of timing. The chorus suggests that the person being addressed will be the first to know when the time is right, implying a sense of trust and deep connection between the two lovers.

The first verse mentions a "dressed to kill" lover, conveying the sense that this person is attractive and alluring. However, the singer cannot hold their lover still, suggesting that the timing is not quite right for them to express their feelings. The second verse implores the lover to come over to the singer's "side of town" and to hold them close.

Overall, the song conveys a sense of longing and anticipation for the right moment to reveal one's true feelings to a loved one. The use of vivid imagery and a memorable chorus make this a classic rock ballad that still resonates with listeners today.

They had so much energy and stage power on this tour.

+bigmaxy07 I have never seen a gig where they haven't had so much energy. Their live shows are the best!

Fool Hardy

AC/DC were great, but The Angels were the best Australian rock band ever! And it's a shame the rest of the world missed out.

Pete staines

Loudest band I ever heard. The road crew were strapping down the speaker stacks half way through the gig.

B. Man

All what you guys said and more. The Angels hsd the luck of having the greatest front man ever in my opinion. Chris Cornell is my favourite singer, but, Doc Neeson is hands down the best front man and I had the pleasure of seeing them in all forms and places 12 times. R.I.P Sir Doc Neeson 🙏🥇🏆✌️

You must be the same age as me, I first had this on cassette in '87, now have it on LP & CD - and for me, yes it was the first time I got into the band & then became a fan of their earlier work & later stuff too. I know Rick well & his favorite is Face to Face, as is most people's - but this album is still one of their finest in my opinion.
