The Apples in Stereo currently consist of Robert Schneider (vocals, guitar), Eric Allen (bass), John Hill (rhythm guitar), John Ferguson (keyboards) and John Dufilho. Schneider writes the most of the band's music and lyrics. Their debut release was 1995's Fun Trick Noisemaker (with Jim McIntyre on bass).
Longtime drummer Hilarie Sydney left the band in 2006, performing her last show at the Athens Popfestival.

About Your Fame
The Apples in Stereo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I saw your name, saw your name
and I hear that you've changed
but what remains, what remains?
Heard about your fame,
it's a game, it's a game
and it seems you're not the same--
I don't want to come down on you--
I just miss the one I knew
Heard about your fame,
how you're tame, now you're so tame;
how the press called your name
and you came, and you came.
I don't want to come down on you--
I just miss the one I knew
as you...
And it seems that you have changed.
What remains? what remains?
The Apples In Stereo's song About Your Fame is a melancholic tune where the lyrics express nostalgic feelings towards someone who has changed due to their newfound fame. The song starts with the singer admitting that they've heard about the person's fame and saw their name, but they wonder what still remains of the person they once knew. The repetition of the phrase 'what remains' highlights the singer's concern that perhaps the person has lost some of their originality and authenticity.
As the song progresses, it becomes apparent that the person has indeed changed as a result of their fame, and the singer laments this change. The chorus emphasizes this change by stating that the person is 'tame' now and that it's a 'shame' that they're not the same as before. However, the singer acknowledges that they don't want to 'come down' on the person and that they simply miss the person they once knew before their fame.
Overall, the song highlights the price of fame and how it can change someone, causing them to lose a part of themselves, which may leave the people who knew them before feeling wistful and nostalgic.
