Sunday Sounds
The Apples in Stereo Lyrics

I've never even dreamed
I wanna walk to the other side
and feel the breeze
You walk in circles and everytime
you come into this town
You fall to pieces remembering
How could we ever leave here? How could we let it go?
I never learned to sleep there, that's why we let it go
It's not contagious
but people walk around as in a dream
The nights are long and
the hours pass so slow it seems
Soon comes the summer
so ghosts can leave this city for awhile
It comes to life and
the sunlight goes a thousand miles
How could we ever leave here? How could we let it go?
I never learned to sleep there, that's why we let it go
The song "Sunday Sounds" by The Apples in Stereo is about the feeling of nostalgia and longing for a place that holds a special meaning to the singer. The lyrics describe the city as silent but also screaming in ways that the singer has never even dreamed of. The singer wants to walk to the other side of the city and feel the breeze, suggesting a desire for change and exploration.
The repetition of falling to pieces every time the singer comes into this town adds to the theme of nostalgia and a longing for a place that once felt like home. The chorus asks the question of how they could ever leave and let it go, suggesting a hesitation to move on from a place that holds so many memories. The lines "I never learned to sleep there, that's why we let it go" also reflect this sentiment, implying that the singer was too restless to settle down in one place.
The song also touches on the idea of the city being a ghost town, with people walking around as if in a dream. The nights are long and the hours pass slowly, giving the city a haunting and melancholic feel. However, the arrival of summer brings life back to the city and enables the ghosts to leave for a while.
Overall, "Sunday Sounds" is a bittersweet reflection on the nostalgia, restlessness, and longing for a place that holds special meaning.
