Say No More
The Arch Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You choose your path.
Don't shift the blame.
You ran your course.
You lost sight of your aim.
Wrong choices linger,
Like scars remain
Long after the bleeding stops.
There's nowhere left to hide from the shame.

Never again.

No! No more regrets.
What's done is done, can't be erased.
Know your regrets, savour the bitter aftertaste.

The crippling guilt, how heavy it can be
When searching for the right words
Hoping the truth will bring you peace.
A lesson learned is good company
For the lonely road you walk
Each step forward, agony.

It's hard to breathe!
Thought process crushing me.
Purge mistakes! Strip the mind of its dignity
Liar
Liar

All I know is but regret.
I can't shake this bitter aftertaste.

Overall Meaning

In “Say No More” by The Arch, the lyrics focus on the theme of regret and learning from past mistakes. The song presents the idea that it is crucial to take responsibility for one’s actions and recognize the consequences of wrong choices. The first lines of the song emphasize the importance of personal accountability, with the words “You choose your path. Don't shift the blame”. The lyrics describe how making wrong choices can lead to lingering regret, which can be as painful as physical scars that last long after the bleeding stops.

As the song progresses, the lyrics encourage listeners to face their regrets head-on and to not shy away from the discomfort that comes with acknowledging past mistakes. The lines “No! No more regrets. What's done is done, can't be erased” serve as an anthem for accepting the reality of one’s actions without dwelling on them. The song even goes so far as to posit that this bitter aftertaste of regret can be a good companion for the lonely road that one must walk in order to learn from past mistakes: “A lesson learned is good company For the lonely road you walk Each step forward, agony”. Finally, the song suggests that exposing oneself to uncomfortable truths can lead to personal growth, even if it is painful: “Hoping the truth will bring you peace.”

Overall, “Say No More” uses vivid metaphors and strong, declarative statements to encourage listeners to come to terms with their past mistakes and learn from them.

I participate in the Portuguese arch community and I thought it was only in the Brazilian community, but it's not official.
The problems are the same.
Regular user who never tried to install arch and failed: "I have installation problems, and I don't know how to solve";

Experienced arch user: "But you followed the wiki right? If not, try the wiki"

I'm a Gentoo user and I had 3 failed installations, I had 1 help to install and now I install alone .

As always the community will end up with new possible arch users, until the devs will leave and there will be almost no developer left to provide adequate support

I like what the gentoo wiki says: there's no right or wrong way of installing it: if you get a working system in the end, you've installed Gentoo

Switched from Arch to Gentoo about two months ago. I love it, as much as I love the much more relaxed attitude of the people crafting Gentoo. That's the spirit. I loved reading the line you quote here. That's how it goes.

Average Arch User

and the gentoo wiki doesn't look like it was written by a 5 year old unlike arch

Please note that the "Arch community" is a pretty small minority of the actual arch userbase, most of us just use our computers like normal

Just like all social media. The people that you interact with online are not reflective of real life. Twitter is a perfect example of this. The people that you interact with on twitter are polar opposite of what real people are like.

Online “communities” tend to just be a small, vocal, minority of the interest they claim to represent and tend to do more damage to the image of that interest than good.

yep the 'arch community' seem like elitist jerks who see arch linux as some kind of status symbol.
