They are well known for their use of eclectic sampling, having created their debut album, Since I Left You (2000), entirely out of over 3,500 samples of obscure records, movies, and television shows. This is famously demonstrated on their hit single "Frontier Psychiatrist".

Before this, they were a hip-hop group with the single album Rock City and the EPy El Producto. After a 16 year hiatus, they released their sophomore album Wildflower (2016), which was followed by We Will Always Love You (2020).

2. The Avalanches was an instrumental surf rock studio group, active in the 1960s, which included Billy Strange, Tommy Tedesco, David Gates (later of Bread) and Hal Blaine. In 1963 they recorded an LP Ski Surfin', which was re-released in 2007.

I mean...it's all on discogs anyway. It has much better credits data base than genius, so it's not that hard to find those things and make a video. On the other hand editing and finding all those videos is indeed a great work by bandstand.

Hey, man, sincerely beautiful video. Everything about it was flawless from the tight editing, the passionate effort to make this, and the more-than-perfect footage of general nostalgic ephemera, human experience, unabashed dancing, and other spot-on appropriate visuals throughout the video.

This is the most impeccable love letter to SILY that I've ever encountered. It truly shows that you without a doubt have some of the best understanding of what this music is all about and why we all love it so.

I don't mean to get too cheesy but this genius video really had a huge emotional effect on me as I too have deep connections with this record, band, etc.

This is probably one of the best videos on this whole site, and I mean that with no exaggeration. I think Paris would've loved it. The dissection of Frontier Psychiatrist was my favorite part, I can't imagine how long that song alone took you. I wish "With My Baby" was included, but I can see you had enough on your plate as is! Cheers to you for all this fantastic work man.

This is incredible. I have to say that the Avalanches are easily my favorite artist with Since I Left You being my favorite album. It's kind of cool that you talked in the beginning of how you became an Avalanches fan and esp3cially about your friend Paris. I first heard of the Avalanches with their song Frontier Psychiatrist since I heard on a couple of YouTube videos in like 2010. I didn't really research them up much until I heard that song again in 2015 when I saw the Music Videos for both Frontier Psychiatrist and Since I Left You. They were so amazing and it left me with a feeling (A Different Feeling, if you will.) the next day. I then went on to search up other songs from that album and got hooked. It was ironic that the moment I finally became a full Avalanches fan was when they announced making Wildflower. Even though I don't listen to them as frequently as I did before, they are easily the most influential artists for me. They're the reason I could dig into other talented artists (Dj Shadow, J Dilla) and started listening to music again since I wasn't really a music fan at the time. They are even the reason I started making videos, since I always wanted to make a sample video of Since I Left You but I didn't know every sample in the album which I felt would be a disservice to them. Thus video makes me so happy to not only realise that there are more Avalanches fans but that their music is appreciated with the respect and hard work the band deserve for making this album.

tl;Dr: The Avalanches are better than food.

I know you've heard it from everyone, but I have to echo the appreciation for this. It's absolutely brilliant. This album has been one of my favs of all time for almost 15 years, and this is like experiencing it in a whole new way.
