Tonight may have to last me all my life,
Tonight, tonight, tonight ...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of The Avalanches's song "Tonight" convey a sense of urgency and importance in the present moment. The repetition of "tonight" emphasizes the significance of the moment and suggests that it may be the last chance to experience something valuable. The line "may have to last me all my life" implies that the singer is aware that this moment may never come again, and therefore wants to make the most of it.

The mood of the song is melancholic and bittersweet, as the singer seems to be unsure whether they will ever have another chance to experience what they are describing. There is a sense of loss and longing in the lyrics, as if the singer is mourning something that they know they will never have again. Despite this, there is also a sense of hopefulness and determination, as the singer is resolved to make the most of what they have in front of them.

Overall, The Avalanches's "Tonight" is a powerful exploration of the fleeting nature of time and the importance of living in the present. It encourages listeners to seize the day and make the most of every moment, as we never know when it will be our last.

It’s so sad to hear MF DOOM for the last time... this was probably one of, if not his last gift to us... May he finally Rest In Peace, a toast to the Masked Villain!

@dotConcept

It'd be dope to even hear another Metal Fingers tape, you know.

@the42project_II

@dotConcept Definitely, but alas we may never hear another doom feature or track... unless another artist has something they have yet to release, but I can’t imagine many are holding out. Though we may get unreleased music surface, but the chances are still slim and who knows when.

There will be more. This remix was recorded years ago. The Avalanches have talking about reissuing Since I Left You w/ this DOOM remix and others since before Wildflower was even mentioned. When I heard it I thought his Frankie Sinatra verse may have been pulled from the remix that they had spoken of.
