The Flinstones
The BC-52's Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yabba dabba doo

Flintstones, meet the Flintstones
There the modern stone age family
From the town of Bedrock
There a page right out of history

Let′s ride with the family down the street
Through the courtesy of Fred's two feet
When you′re with the Flintstones
Have a yabba dabba doo time, a dabba doo time
We'll have a gay old time

The Flintstones

Flintstones, meet the Flintstones
There the modern stone age family
From the town of Bedrock
There a page right out of history

Someday, maybe Fred will win the fight
Then the cat will stay out for the night
When you're with the Flintstones
Have a yabba dabba doo time, a dabba doo time
We′ll have a gay old time

We′ll have a gay old time
Yeah!

Overall Meaning

The BC-52's "The Flintstones" is a joyful and upbeat tune that pays homage to the classic 60s animated sitcom The Flintstones. The song acts as an ode to the show's main characters, the Flintstone family. The song introduces audiences to the Flintstones and describes them as a modern stone-age family. It then goes on to describe their hometown of Bedrock as a place that is right out of history.

The chorus is particularly catchy, inviting listeners to join the Flintstones as they ride down the street with Fred's feet as their vehicle. The song encourages its audience to have a good time with the Flintstones, encouraging them to have a yabba-dabba-do time, a catchphrase commonly used by Fred Flintstone, the show's central character. The lyrics mention Fred's love of fighting with his best friend and neighbor Barney Rubble but also touch on the show's humorous side, suggesting that when Fred wins a fight, the Rubbles' family cat will finally be able to come back home.

A lot of people hate this movie, but I don't.
The Flintstones is an underrated movie
A lot of the live-action movie versions of cartoons are corny, but in my opinion, none of them can beat this one!

@joehunter9242

Agreed.

@321SPONGEBOLT

Johnno9989 You mean, this one is probably a better live-action movie adapted from a cartoon? Don't forget, "George of the Jungle", "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", and "Scooby Doo 3: The Mystery Begins". I was also thinking Yogi Bear, but wasn't sure if that and "The Smurfs" series works too, but I know "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" does.

@Johnno9989

George Of The Jungle's okay, but I wasn't keen on the narrator. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is great. I ain't keen on The Grinch, though you do realise it was originally based on a novel. I ain't seen Scooby Doo 3 or The Smurfs movie or the Yogi Bear movie, so I can't comment on them three.
