Little Girl
The Banned Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey, little girl, you don′t have to hide nothin' no more
You didn′t do nothin' that hadn't been done before
Little girl thought she wouldn′t get caught, you see
She thought she′d get away with goin' out on me, yeah
Other girls did it, you didn′t think of nothin' new
You went out on me, so other girls did it too

You can leave, little girl, I don′t want you 'round no more
If you come knockin′, you won't get past my door... yeah

You got nothin' to hide and everybody knows it′s true
Too bad, little girl, it′s all over for you... ha-ha-ha-ha

Overall Meaning

The Banned's song "Little Girl" is a story of betrayal and anger. The lyrics are directed towards a girl who cheated on the singer, and he is now furious that she thought she could get away with it. The opening line "Hey, little girl, you don't have to hide nothin' no more" suggests that she had been keeping her infidelity a secret, but now the truth is out. The singer tells her that "You didn't do nothin' that hadn't been done before" - he knows that people cheat, but he is still deeply hurt by her actions.

The lyrics go on to explain that the girl thought she wouldn't get caught, but the singer knows that she was wrong. He sarcastically comments that "Other girls did it, you didn't think of nothin' new". He is essentially saying that she is not special or unique, and that he doesn't appreciate being treated like all the other guys she has cheated on.

The chorus of the song is where the singer really lets his anger show. He tells the girl that he doesn't want her around anymore, and that if she tries to come back to him, she won't get past his door. He also makes it clear that everyone knows what she did, and that it's "all over for [her]". The repetition of "ha-ha-ha-ha" at the end of the chorus adds an almost taunting tone to the song, as if the singer is reveling in the girl's downfall.

Overall, "Little Girl" is a poignant reminder of the pain that can come with betrayal in a relationship. The singer's anger and hurt are palpable throughout the song, and the catchy melody and simple lyrics make it a memorable piece of music.
