Trial By Fire
The Banner Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Your eyes cried dry and you've gained nothing
Hearts in shreds your own knife
Refuse to escape your self made torture
Alone by yourself only hurts if you need someone
To need truly need anothers touch can lead you into...
And I'm sorry, if my momentary lapse just caused you one more thing
And knowing what I've done can tug a fraying tear
Endured
But in the end you'll learn its worth
Alone by yourself only hurts if you need someone
To need truly need anothers touch can lead you into hell
Longing, desire, burning inside her
Crawling in darkness, only a glimmer of hope as she yelled these words.
I'll face my pain
On my own - standing strong
Prove for myself.
The song “Trial by Fire” by The Banner is an intense, emotional track about the struggle of dealing with one’s own inner demons. The lyrics express a sense of hopelessness and isolation, as the singer is trapped in their own self-made torture. The line “kill yourself all by yourself” is a powerful metaphor for this sense of self-destruction.
The song conveys a message about the dangers of relying too heavily on others for one’s own happiness and well-being. The line “alone by yourself only hurts if you need someone” implies that true strength comes from being able to face one’s own pain and struggles without relying on others for support. The chorus emphasizes this point, with the lyrics “I'll face my pain on my own - standing strong, prove for myself.”
The intense emotions expressed in this song make it a powerful anthem for anyone who has struggled with mental health issues or feelings of isolation. Its message of resilience and self-reliance is inspiring and relatable to anyone who has been through tough times.
