Ode To The Prostitute
The Bastard Fairies Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Come on over here and baby we can cut a deal
Billy I know that you want it
Jimmy I know that you want it
Tommy I know that you want it
Baby I know that you want it
Standing on a corner and I'm gonna give you what you need
Billy I know that you want it
Jimmy I know that you want it
Tommy I know that you want it
Baby I know that you want it
(Much of this material has been described as an
illustrated, detailed course in perversion,
abnormal sex, crime and violence.
It is also a fact that no matter who buys this material,
75-90% of it ends up in the hands of our children.)
I don't want you for your love
You don't want to cook me dinner
50 bucks to kiss on the lips
25 an hour, suck my..
Billy I know that you want it
Jimmy I know that you want it
Tommy I know that you want it
Baby I know that you want it
Billy I know that you want it
Jimmy I know that you want it
Tommy I know that you want it
Baby I know that you want it
(Sex: It is threatening to pervert an entire
generation of our American children.
We know that once a person is perverted, it is
practically impossible for thatperson to adjust
to normal attitudes in regards to sex..)
The lyrics to "Ode to the Prostitute" by The Bastard Fairies are a commentary on the commodification of sex and the societal expectations placed on women to meet men's sexual needs. The chorus repeats the same refrain, addressing different men by name and stating that they all want the same thing: sex with a prostitute. The verses describe the prostitute's willingness to provide these services in exchange for money, with prices listed for various actions.
However, the song also takes a critical view of this transactional approach to sex. The spoken interjections in parentheses serve as a warning about the dangers of normalizing this behavior and exposing children to it. The underlying implication is that the men who seek out prostitutes are contributing to a larger societal problem, perpetuating harmful attitudes towards women and sex.
