I Was Made to Love Her
by The Beach Boys

I was born in Lil' Rock
Had a childhood sweetheart
We were always hand in hand
I was hightop shoes and shirt tails
Suzy was in pig tails
I know I loved her even then
You know my papa disapproved it
My mama boohooed it
But I told them time and time again
"Don't you know I was made to love her
Built a world all around her"
Yah! Hey, hey, hey
She's been my inspiration
Showed appreciation
For the love I gave her through the years
Like a sweet magnolia tree
My love blossomed tenderly
My life grew sweeter through the years
I know that my baby loves me
My baby needs me
That's why we made it through the years
I was made to love her
Worship and adore her
Hey, hey, hey
All through thick and thin
Our love just won't end
'Cause I love my baby, love my baby. Ah!
My baby loves me
My baby needs me
And I know I ain't going nowhere
I was knee high to a chicken
When that love bug bit me
I had the fever with each passing year
Oh, even if the mountain tumbles
If this whole world crumbles
By her side I'll still be standing there
'Cause I was made to love her
I was made to live for her, yeah!
Ah, I was made to love her
Built my world all around her
Hey, hey, hey
Oo baby, I was made to please her
You know Stevie ain't gonna leave her, no
Hey, hey, hey
Oo wee baby, my baby loves me
My baby needs me
Hey, hey, hey
Oo my baby loves me

I miss Carl Wilson everyday, he was my favorite Beach Boys and one of the greatest singers of all-time. Rest in peace.

[Verse 1]
(Hey hey yes I was made to love her)
I was born in Little Rock
Had a childhood sweetheart
We were always hand in han-an-an-an-and
I wore high-top shoes and shirt-tails
Suzy was in pigtails
I knew I loved her even then
(Hey hey yes I was made to love her)
Don't you know my Papa dis'proved
My Mama hooo-ooo-hoooed it
But I told them time and time again

[Chorus]
(Hey hey yes I was made to love her)
Don't you know I was made to love her
Built my world all around her
Hey hey hey

[Verse 2]
(Hey hey yes I was made to love her)
She's been my inspiration
Showed appreciation
For the love I gave her through the years
(Hey hey yes I was made to love her)
Like a sweet magnolia tree
My love blossomed tenderly
My life grows sweeter through the years
(Hey hey yes I was made to love her)
I know that my baby loves me
My baby needs me
That's why we made it through the years

[Chorus]
(Hey hey yes I was made to love her)
I was made to love her
Worship and adore her
Hey hey hey

[Verse 3]
(Hey hey yes I was made to love her)
My little baby loves me
My baby needs me
And I know I ain't going nowhere
I was knee-high to a chimp
And the love bug bit me
And I have to be with her a thousand years
(Hey hey yes I was made to love her)
If the mountain tumbles
If this whole world crumbles
I know I'll still be standing there

[Chorus]
(Hey hey yes I was made to love her)
Cause I was made to love her
I was made to live for her
Hey hey hey

[Outro]
(Hey hey yes I was made to love her)

After the failure of the "Smile" project, the Boys streamlined the material, and hit one out of the park. "Wild Honey" is one of their very best albums. "Darlin'" was left over from a few years earlier, intended for a group named Redwood. They turned into Three Dog Night.

Wild Honey is awesome!

Nice Stevie Wonder cover by The Beach Boys!

In some ways, I prefer this to the Stevie Wonder original. The whole Wild Honey album was a real gem, considering that it answered the "How do you follow Smile/Smiley Smile?" question.

Carl took this Song to new heights! Groovy cover for sure

"It's a true song"--Stevie

Stevie's mom helped him write that one.

Been singing this since "the day" (my wife and my song) and never knew how the "chimp" verse went, couldn[t figure it out. Now i see why. They should have written something else IMHO sorta screwed up a great song. HOWEVER, not knowing pop songs lyrics is kinda cool (as you all know) ;-)
