Formed in Hawthorne, California in 1961, the original group comprised singer-musician-composer and bandleader Brian Wilson, his brothers Carl Wilson and Dennis Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine. Wilson neighbor David Marks appeared on their first four albums and was a member from 1962 to 1963 as a temporary replacement for Jardine, who had left the group to pursue a career in dentistry.
On their first few studio albums, the group primarily played surf music, but this changed after 1964 as their songs became more sophisticated and autobiographical. The 1965 album Today! particularly represented this shift in sound. Bruce Johnston joined the group that same year. Session drummer Hal Blaine is quoted: "We all studied in conservatories; we were trained musicians. We thought it was a fluke at first, but then we realized Brian was writing these incredible songs. This was not just a young kid writing about high school and surfing."
Following their most esteemed work, Pet Sounds (1966), the band became symbols of psychedelic counterculture. The highly anticipated follow-up, Smile, was left unfinished, and Brian soon relinquished his creative hold on the group. A trilogy of lo-fi releases followed: Smiley Smile (1967), Wild Honey (1967), and Friends (1968). Brian would not be credited as a primary composer for any Beach Boys album until 1977's Love You, an album on the fringe of synth-pop, new wave, and punk.
In Brian's absence, the Beach Boys still managed to release music that was regarded favorably by fans and critics despite poor sales: Sunflower (1970) and Surf's Up (1971). South African musicians Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar played and sang with the band on the next two albums: Carl & the Passions - So Tough (1972), and Holland (1973).
Many changes in both musical style and personnel have occurred in their sometimes-stormy career: Brian Wilson's mental illness and drug addiction; the deaths of Dennis Wilson in 1983 and Carl Wilson in 1998; and continuing legal battles among surviving members of the group. With the release of 1974's Endless Summer they became a more popular touring act, playing their greatest hits. They have recorded 36 Billboard Top 40 hits (including four number-one singles), have had over 100 million sales, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

I'm gonna chow down my vegetables
I love you most of all

If you brought a big brown bag of them home

Cart off and sell my vegetables

My favorite vege-table
Oh oh taba vega vegel
I tried to kick the ball but my tenny flew right off
I'm red as a beet 'cause I'm so embarrassed
Oh oh dumb do dumb de dooby do

The Beach Boys' song "Vegetables" is an ode to healthy eating and specifically, the love of vegetables. The song begins with the singer stating that they are going to enjoy their vegetables and chow down on them. The singer also proclaims their love for them, declaring that they are their favorite vegetable. The chorus is the same as the opening lines, emphasizing the joy of eating vegetables.
The second verse is about the singer's dedication to their vegetables. They want to keep them fresh and healthy so that they can sell them later. This verse indicates a strong work ethic towards taking care of your possessions. The bridge is a comical break in the song where the singer admits to a silly mishap of losing their shoe while trying to play a sport. The bridge is followed by more non-sensical syllables and a fun up-tempo beat in the outro.
Overall, the song promotes the idea that vegetables are a valuable and important part of a balanced diet. It also includes humorous moments that lighten up the song and make it enjoyable to listen to.

Wow...
“[Publicist] Derek Taylor was planted over here as a scout for The Beatles, to see what was going on on the West Coast...I think Derek Taylor facilitated The Beatles listening to Smile before the advent of Sgt Pepper’s...It was after Brian found out that they had been in the studio, we heard. We walked into the place and heard that The Beatles had been there. We knew that the nest had been found, and Brian was very sad. He felt violated, raped...The damage had been done. They came out with a record, and we know that was the straw that broke our camel’s back.”

What a genius. It's like being a dream that you never want to end. The fact the Smile never came to fruition before Sgt Pepper is one of saddest things in music history.

It probably would have come out in December '67 if someone had the courage to resist Capital Records. They only needed to finish up a few vocals and get a song order down. Mike would have had to put teseterone in Brian's coffee to give him the attitude to release the finished product with Brian's state at the time, which would be very messed up.

@Mirdproductions chill out 😂 but still SMiLE would’ve been better than Sgt Peppers honestly
