The Beau Brummels broke into the mainstream with their debut single, "Laugh, Laugh", for which they would later be credited for setting the aesthetic foundation for the San Francisco Sound. The band's popularity continued with the subsequent album, 1965's Introducing the Beau Brummels, and the Top 10 single "Just a Little". The group's commercial success declined by the following year, at which time the financially struggling Autumn label was acquired by Warner Bros. Records. After recording an album of cover songs, Beau Brummels '66, the band released a pair of critically acclaimed albums: Triangle in 1967 and Bradley's Barn in 1968.
The band underwent several personnel changes, beginning with Mulligan's departure in 1965. Guitarist Don Irving joined the band in late 1965 when Elliott began to suffer seizures resulting from a diabetic condition, leaving him unable to tour with the band. Shortly after the release of Beau Brummels '66, Irving left the group when he was inducted into the armed forces. Petersen left to join Harpers Bizarre, reducing the Beau Brummels to a trio for the recording of Triangle. Meagher was drafted for military service in 1968, leaving Valentino and Elliott as the only remaining band members. The duo worked with prominent Nashville session musicians to record Bradley's Barn before parting ways in 1969 to focus on solo material and participate in projects by other artists. The five original Beau Brummels reformed in 1974, and the band released an eponymous album the following year.

The Beau Brummels Lyrics

Is to rill the rising sun stream
Is to feel the cleaning rain
Is to reveal the freshest hour
The time in motion
It is better to move the seasons on
To share the sun and rain and move them
And grow…
Revealing all the life that will remain
That knows…
Oh, life is one through love and sun and rain
Life is a circle there’s no doubt
It has two sides inside and out
That life’s the blossom, not the sprout in greenery…
Inside the circle, there are thorns
That summon when child’s being born
And love that never dares to scorn the scenery
And here…
Inside the leaves that bring life to remain
We see…
The triangle of love and sun and rain
[Instrumental Interlude]
And here…
Inside the leaves that bring life to remain
Yes, we see…
The triangle of love and sun and rain

The song Triangle by The Beau Brummels begins by describing the different aspects of love and passion. To "rill the rising sun stream" and "feel the cleaning rain" seems to represent the idea of experiencing and appreciating nature's beauty, while "revealing the freshest hour" could mean the excitement of discovering new love. The following lines suggest that it's important to "move the seasons on" and continue to grow with and share experiences with the person you love, just as seeds need sun and rain to blossom. The theme of growth and continuity is emphasized with the line "revealing all the life that will remain" and the idea that life is one through love and nature.
The second verse introduces the concept of life being a circle with two sides. The metaphor of a blossom rather than a sprout in greenery is used to illustrate that life is more than just a beginning, but rather a continuous journey. The circle also has thorns, or difficulties that are encountered, like when a child is being born. However, there is also love that is never scorned and always appreciated, adding to the beauty of life.
The chorus returns to the idea of the triangle of love, sun, and rain. These three things might symbolize the necessary ingredients for life to thrive and grow, or they might simply represent the various experiences we encounter in life. Either way, the song seems to suggest that appreciating and experiencing these things with someone you love is what makes life worth living.
