Stripped of their possessions and scrounging to survive, five young men (mere boys in some eyes) howled in the night as they formed a rebellious band of wild outcasts. This tight-knit gang called themselves The Beggars and are still roaming the countryside looking for a morsel of food or perhaps some change...anything will do...
Falling Down
The Beggars Lyrics
Watching the rain, as it tumbles and falls
Cigarette floating, while the traffic just crawls
Making our way down one-way boulevard
In comfortable cages yet twisted inside
Chasing our trophies to cover and hide
The distance that keeps separation from you
Falling down you got it
Take all this weight away
Lay it down you got it
Take all this woundedness away
Pushing the limits, but what do we gain?
Grasping at rainbows to ease our pain
Trying to live by some new Hollywood dream
Look for redemption, yet hide from the truth
Seeking it online at some fountain of youth
Selling your soul for a moment's reward
Falling down you got it
Take all this weight away
Lay it down you got it
Take all this woundedness away
Watching the waves, watching the tides
Waiting for no-one, always on time
Does anyone stop? Does anyone notice?
Does anyone hear us, as we cry from the coldness?
Bleeding with hearts that cry out for so much more
Falling down you got it
Take all this weight away
Lay it down you got it
Take all this woundedness
This loneliness, this emptiness away
Cigarette floating, while the traffic just crawls
Making our way down one-way boulevard
In comfortable cages yet twisted inside
Chasing our trophies to cover and hide
The distance that keeps separation from you
Falling down you got it
Take all this weight away
Lay it down you got it
Pushing the limits, but what do we gain?
Grasping at rainbows to ease our pain
Trying to live by some new Hollywood dream
Look for redemption, yet hide from the truth
Seeking it online at some fountain of youth
Selling your soul for a moment's reward
Falling down you got it
Take all this weight away
Lay it down you got it
Take all this woundedness away
Watching the waves, watching the tides
Waiting for no-one, always on time
Does anyone stop? Does anyone notice?
Does anyone hear us, as we cry from the coldness?
Bleeding with hearts that cry out for so much more
Falling down you got it
Take all this weight away
Lay it down you got it
Take all this woundedness
This loneliness, this emptiness away

I did not think a celebrity would have such great taste LOL! My brother added this and 'Don't' to youtube back in 2011 because this band gave the world an excellent slice of jangle rock on their one off selt titled that should have been heard much more extensively!

brings back a memory or two.

These kids were from Rockford, Illinois (Cheap Trick's hometown).
The bass player, Robert Levon Been is now the frontman in Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The album was produced by Robert's dad, the great Michael Been of The Call.
The Beggars went one and done. It's hard to even find mentions of them on the Web. Somebody probably got screwed over.
I doubt that many of these CDs were sold in 1995, but I have one, and still really enjoy listening to it. It holds up. Cool vibe, good songs, and a overall great sound.
Especially on this song. I love it. I just wish it was longer.

Yeah. Heroin screwed them over. Ugh.

Nice Add.

Awesome music!....sadly Heroin played a part in this bands demise.

Can’t even find this on iTunes..the pop shoe gaze scene in the San Francisco Bay Area (where they garnered some attention: recalled seeing them perform on a local TV program here) never really picked up momentum and these Musicians were discarded.
Too bad.
This is better than 95% of the junk approved by Record companies who have no taste in music.
