Eldest sister Joy Beverley (born Joycelyn Victoria Chinery, 5 May 1924 – 31 August 2015), and the twins, Teddie Beverley (born Hazel P. Chinery, 5 May 1927) and Babs Beverley (born Babette P. Chinery, 5 May 1927 – 28 October 2018), comprised the trio. Their style was loosely modelled on that of their American counterparts, the Andrews Sisters. Their notable successes included "Sisters" and the seasonal tunes "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus", "Little Donkey", and "Little Drummer Boy".
The sisters were the daughters of George Arthur Chinery and Victoria Alice Miles (married 1916), who were known as the Music Hall act 'Coram & Miles'.
Joy Beverley married Billy Wright on 28 July 1958 at Poole Register Office; Billy was the first footballer to play for England 100 times. As recently as 2009, the sisters continued to appear in concerts and matinee shows in the United Kingdom. They forged strong links with the Burma Star association, and with McCarthey & Stone properties where the Sisters were invited to open each new housing development designed specifically for retired people.

underneath the mistletoe last night.
She didn't see me creep
down the stairs to have a peep;
She thought that I was tucked up
in my bedroom fast asleep.
Then, I saw Mommy tickle Santa Claus
underneath his beard so snowy white;
If Daddy had only seen
Mommy kissin' Santa Claus last night.
The Beverley Sisters' "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" tells the story of a young child who, on Christmas Eve, witnesses their mother kissing Santa Claus while he is delivering gifts. The child sneaks down to the living room and watches everything from the stairs, undetected by their mother. The scene is comedic as Santa Claus is supposedly getting tickled by the mother, creating a humorous and light-hearted moment.
However, the song may also have a more serious undertone, as the child seems to be conflicted about what they saw. They are excited about the magic of Christmas but also worried about their parents' fidelity, hence wondering what would happen if their father found out. The song might represent the loss of innocence that comes with discovering harsher aspects of life, such as infidelity and the imperfection of parents.
Overall, the song's catchy melody and playful tone make it a beloved classic, and it is still played frequently during the holiday season.
