Resurrection
The Black Sorrows Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Six weeks and a day too long
The same old thing just keeps goin' on
Your L-O-V-E was double dealin' me
Your X-T-C was only misery

Your spell of voodoo had a hold on me
Your poison kisses would ting aling aling
Black crows sing on the witness tree
Won't let you Hoodoo make no fool out of me

I'm gonna break away
Ain't you heard?
Resurrection is the word

So raise the wind on this holy day
Church bells are ringin' Ooo Ooo Ooo Ooo
Well empty prayers will only testify
What kind of fool will keep this love alive

Now I'm movin' in a new direction
For a brand new start
Well all those tears can turn to dust
There ain't no lovin' without no trust

I'm gonna break away
Ain't you heard?
Resurrection is the word
Rise up
It's a holy day
Pray for the love that you betrayed

Well you free wheelin'
Flip floppin'
Tail gaitin'
Hip huggin'

Your L-O-V-E was double dealin' me

I'm gonna break away

Six weeks and a day too long
The same old thing just keeps goin' on
Well all these tears can turn to dust
There ain't no lovin' without no trust

So raise the wind on this holy day
Church bells are ringin' Ooo Ooo Ooo Ooo
Black crows sing on the witness tree
Won't let you Hoodoo make no fool out of me

I'm gonna break away
Ain't you heard?
Resurrection is the word
Rise up
It's a holy day
Pray for the love that you betrayed

Well you free wheelin'
Flip floppin'
Tail gaitin'
Hip huggin'

Your L-O-V-E was double dealin' me

I'm gonna break away
Ain't you heard?
Resurrection is the word
Rise up
It's a holy day
Pray for the love that you betrayed

Overall Meaning

The Black Sorrows's song Resurrection is about breaking free from a toxic and double-dealing love, and moving towards a new start. The lyrics describe the pain experienced in a relationship that was built on lies and betrayal. The singer acknowledges that the love was a spell of voodoo that had a hold on them. The poisonous kisses and the voodoo references add an element of danger and darkness to the song, making it more mysterious and intriguing.

The chorus, "I'm gonna break away, Ain't you heard? Resurrection is the word," highlights the singer's desire to leave the past and embrace a fresh start. The word "resurrection" can be interpreted as rebirth or revival, and this line sets the tone for the rest of the song. The singer is done with the empty prayers and unmet promises and now wants to move forward.

The verses use a series of alliterations such as "free wheelin', flip-floppin', tail-gaitin', hip-huggin'" to describe the superficial nature of the love that was based on appearances, not substance. The repetition of "six weeks and a day too long" and "the same old thing just keeps goin' on" emphasizes the monotony of the relationship that lost its spark long ago.

Overall, the lyrics paint a picture of a love that was doomed to fail from the start. The singer's determination to break free and start anew is admirable and inspiring.

@Joshtheunclean Dude, I envy you. I've got a pretty rad collection of the figures and other random collectibles, but mainly just the leather covers and variants of Evil and the Lady. I'm working at getting the rest though!

Anyone can upload all of the tracks?

Joshtheunclean

@Kookie667 Yeah. it sucks. I found CHAOS! after they went under. I did a pretty good job at collecting the comics though. My local comic shop owner helped me find them. Im just missing about 8 or so from having the whole run of Ernie, Chasity, and the one shots.

Kookie667

@Joshtheunclean Nowhere unless you were a CHAOS! fan back in the day. I've looked all over with no luck.
