1) The Blakes recall the stinging catchiness of the early Who, Kinks, and other 60s spitfire rock bands. Brothers Garnet and Snow Keim (both on vocals) busked around the country, writing songs, 'till they ended up settling in Seattle.' There they met drummer Bob Husak and since have been touring the world with everyone from The Gossip to the Kills to Brian Jonestown Massacre, reached #1 on KEXP, garnered Top 10 album of '07 on iTunes and perform at clubs internationally and at US festivals from Lollapalooza to Bumpershoot to Sasquatch to SxSW.
The Blakes have received critical adoration and massive airplay for their bone-rattling anthems "Don't Bother Me," "Two Times" and "Streets" from their self titled LP. The album was mixed and mastered by Martin Feveyear (Kings of Leon, The Epoxies).
The Blakes songs have been featured in The Hills, 90210, How I Met Your Mother.
The Blakes return with an international tour and their second full length release "Souvenir" through WeAreOkay Records.
2012 saw The Blakes release Art of Losses. Their critically acclaimed 3rd record. Chaske Spencer(Twilight) appears in their video for "Narwhal".
The Blakes side project is BEADS

2) The Blakes were a New Jersey band that wrote really catchy pop/rock. They released one album, New Tattoo. They broke up, but two members stuck together and became Readymade Breakup. http://www.facebook.com/readymadebreakup & http://www.readymadebreakup.com

The Blakes Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Somewhere alone with you
It could be oh, so gay, Junior
You need a laugh
Or two
A certain place I know, Frankie
Where funny people can have fun
Darling
Before you can count up
One, two, three.
For there's a small hotel
With a wishing well
I wish that we were there together
There's a bridal suite
One room bright and neat
Complete for us to
Share together
Looking through the window
You can see a distant steeple
Not a sign of people who
Wants people?
When the steeple bell says,
"Good night, sleep well,"
We'll thank the small hotel
Together
We'll creep into our little shell
And we will thank the small hotel together
The Blakes's song "Hotel" is a romantic tune about two people wanting to escape from the world and spend some quality time together. The lyrics are addressed to Junior and Frankie, and they suggest that the two want to leave everything behind and find some peace and joy in a secluded place. The song is joyful and playful, and it communicates the sense of excitement and anticipation that often comes with new adventures.
The singer suggests that Junior needs a laugh or two, and the place he recommends is the "small hotel with a wishing well." The hotel is described as a place where funny people can have fun, and where there's a bridal suite that's perfect for the two of them. The lyrics paint a picture of a beautiful and serene location, with a distant steeple visible from the window, and no sign of people who want people. When the steeple bell says goodnight, the couple will thank the small hotel together and enjoy their time in their little shell.
Overall, the song seems to be an ode to the romantic ideal of escaping from the world and finding a place of quiet joy with a loved one. The lyrics are simple and straightforward, but they communicate a deep sense of connection and intimacy between the two characters.
