1 The Blizzards are an Irish band from Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland formed in 2003. The band is made up of Niall Breslin also known as Bressie (Lead vocals & guitar), Justin Ryan (Lead guitar), Dec Murphy (Drums), Anthony Doran (Bass) and Aidan Lynch (Keyboards and acoustic guitar). They performed one song described as Ska but claim they are not a Ska-Pop band (recent radio interview).
The Blizzards signed a recording contract in 2006 with Universal Music Ireland after their debut single First Girl to Leave Town went to No. 11 in the Irish charts; making it the biggest selling independent release in Ireland in 2005. In July 2005 the band played the New Bands Stage at Oxegen in front of 2,500 fans.
In 2006, the bands second single Trouble was released and went to No. 6 in the Irish charts. The single stayed in the Top 40 for seven weeks. In July the band returned to Oxegen, this time on the NME Stage in front of 10,000 fans.
The bands next single Miss Fantasia Preaches was released in August 2006, followed by an album in October.
The album, titled A Public Display of Affection, caused action in stores all over Ireland, and there is a high chance of them becoming very big, very soon. The album entered at No. 4 in the Irish album charts for the first week of its release.
The bands debut album ‘a puplic display of affection’ recently achieved platinum status in the bands native Ireland in April of 2007.
The band released their second album, Domino Effect on 15 September 2008 to mostly positive reviews with entertainment.ie stating the album "does a concrete job in guiding the sextet through their new-found maturity". The album peaked at #2 on the Irish Albums Chart, losing out to Metallica's Death Magnetic. The lead single from the album, Trust Me, I'm A Doctor was released on 29 August 2008, going straight to the top of the download charts and debuted at #2 on the Irish Singles Chart, again just being beaten to the top spot, this time by the Katy Perry single "I Kissed a Girl". Trust Me, I'm A Doctor remained in the Top Ten for four weeks before dropping down to #13 on 10 October.
2 The Blizzards is 60's garage beat band from Stade, Germany. Their music were pretty close to early Kinks and they had an astonishing potential of original songs. They also covered on a later single Het's "Ik Heb Geen Zin Om Op Te Staan".
They appeared during the 1962-69 German beat wave season. In the course of a STAR-CLUB-competition, Sigi E. Loch, promoter and producer of musical talents has discovered and helped them to acend to a most significant show career. As a German beat group, the band produced radio and television performances, performed as accompanying band (e.g. for Davy Jones, Tony Cavanaugh, Drafi Deutscher and Howard Carpendale) completed on tour performances and produced several singles as well as, one LP. In the special character of the band, creation of personal compositions is distinctive (for example, on the LP), with lyrics in German, the vocals in polyphonic harmony, by their rounded-up intonation oriented to the sound of the Beatles and the Hollies. They split in 1969. Since 1983 the re-organized Blizzards performed on tour (e.g. with Johnny and the Hurricanes from the USA) and in TV shows, but made no more recordings.

War Of Words
The Blizzards Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Recycle dreams then throw them out
In a war of words
And every conversation that we have leaves us in dept to ourselves
In a war of words
And i'm running away
I can't sand this place Cause every suggestion i make
It blows up in my face
You know i love ya baby and i always will
Well the truth to be to told
Wel i'm breaking the mould so why i straight for the kill
Well its good advice to pay the price
Rather than stand your ground and sacrifice
Everything that you have for just one fight
And solitude act can never get it right
How can i listen to ya
When every word that you say makes me fall more in love with you
And i'm running away
I can't sand this place
Cause every suggestion i make
It blows up in my face
You know i love ya baby and i always will
Well the truth to be to told
Wel i'm breaking the mould so why i straight for the kill
And i'm running away baby
I can't stand this place
Cause every suggestion make it blows up in my faces
And my phychiatrist said i should get you into bed yeah
Well at the end of the night we can cease this fight and solve our war of words
The Blizzards' song War of Words is a commentary on the destructive nature of arguments in relationships. The lyrics express the frustration and hurt caused by misunderstandings and miscommunications that lead to fights. The singer questions the value of the love that drives us to recycle our dreams and then discard them in the midst of a verbal battle. Each conversation leaves them in emotional debt to themselves, trapped in a cycle of negativity that leads to wanting to run away from the situation.
The chorus seems to be a plea to end the conflict by either finding a way to be heard and understood or by ending the relationship altogether. The singer is tired of having every suggestion they make blow up in their face, and they ask how they can listen to their partner's words when each one just causes them to fall more deeply in love. The bridge suggests that sometimes the wisest course of action is to walk away from the fight and find a better way to communicate. The ending sounds like an appeal to physical intimacy as a way to break through the walls of verbal disagreement and find peace in the midst of the war of words.
