Fall
The Blooms Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Would it make a difference to ya
If I decide to leave
If I found strength to be
The person you choose not to see
Would it change a thing about us
If I go my own way
If I stop being weak
And stop you
Getting your own way

But what if I
Fall
What If I
Fall
What if I
Fall

Would it break your heart
The hurting
When I make up my mind
When I look deep enough
And realise there's no need to cry
Would it hurt you
Like you hurt me
Cut deeper than your lies
Would it keep you up all night
Knowing we're no longer tied

But what if I
Fall
What If I
Fall

What if I
Fall

Overall Meaning

The Blooms' song "Fall" is a deeply emotional and introspective ballad that explores the idea of leaving a relationship in order to find strength and discover one's true self. The lyrics convey a sense of vulnerability and uncertainty, as the singer questions the impact of their departure on the other person, while also acknowledging the pain and hurt involved in such a decision.

The opening lines of the song, "Would it make a difference to ya / If I decide to leave," set the tone for the rest of the piece, as the singer confronts the other person with the possibility of leaving. They ask whether it would change anything about the relationship if they were to become stronger and more independent, and suggest that the other person has not fully seen or valued them for who they are.

The central refrain of the song, "What if I fall," echoes the singer's sense of trepidation and hesitation in making this choice. They are aware of the risks involved in leaving a familiar and comfortable situation, and are uncertain about what the future holds. The repetition of this phrase creates a sense of urgency and intensity, as if the singer is confronting their fears head-on.

The second half of the song turns more confrontational, as the singer challenges the other person to confront their own lies and the pain they have caused. They ask whether it would hurt the other person as much as it would hurt them to separate, and suggest that the end of the relationship would be a wake-up call for both parties to face their own truths.

Overall, "Fall" is a poignant and personal song that speaks to the complexity of relationships and the choices we make in order to find ourselves.

Hey Danny, thank you so much. I am becoming the orchid guy at work. I currently have 11 rescues from teachers who receive them and then neglect them. Some of which have come straight out of the garbage. Because of your videos, my rescue success rate has gone way up. Some of my rescues have been incredibly remarkable. I have also taught some teachers how to care for their orchids and my one friend still has blooms from the plant he received in September of last year.

Am pretty sure the little plants cry when they end up at the garbage. You are so nice rescuing, and giving them another chance. I do love orchid!. Actually I do have a total of twenty four, and they are my children. But, my problem is; I can not stop buying them!!.

@Imelda SUNDQUIST I'm the same way but with succulents. Lol I'm here because I received an orchid last August as a gift from my daughter. I've successfully kept it alive through winter, and it's kept its 2 flowers. The problem is I want it to grow more flowers. 🤔
