Let's Misbehave
The Bluebirds Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We're all alone
No chaperone
Can get our number
The world's in slumber
Let's misbehave

There's something wild
About you, child
That's so contangious
Let's be outrageous
Let's misbehave

Now, when Adam won Eve's hand
He wouldn't stand
For teasin'
He didn't care about
Those apples out
Of season

They say the spring
Means just one thing
To little love birds

We're not above birds
Let's misbehave

Overall Meaning

The Bluebirds's song Let's Misbehave starts with stating how they have no chaperone, meaning they are free to do whatever they want without anyone to stop them. The world is in slumber symbolizes how everyone is asleep and not aware of whatever they are doing. Therefore, they suggest that they misbehave and do something out of the ordinary. The lyrics also suggest that there's something wild about the child they are addressing, and it's contagious. This could be interpreted as them being attracted to this person's edgy and adventurous personality, which in turn motivates them to do the same. Thus they suggest that they be outrageous and misbehave.

Further, they talk about Adam and Eve and how Adam didn't stand for teasing when he won Eve's hand. This could mean that when people are in love or like someone, they tend to be possessive and protective of that person. They also mention how he didn't care about apples out of season, which could symbolize how when two people like each other, they tend to overlook each other's flaws and imperfections.

Finally, the last stanza talks about how the spring means just one thing to little lovebirds. It symbolizes how when spring comes, people tend to fall in love and act like lovebirds. However, they state that they are not above the birds and suggest that they misbehave, indicating that they want to do something daring and unconventional.
