The band then began to take on a life beyond the confines of the television screen, releasing an album, Briefcase Full of Blues, in 1978, and then having a Hollywood film, The Blues Brothers, created around its characters in 1980.
After the death of Belushi in 1982, the Blues Brothers have continued to perform with a rotation of guest singers and other band members. Aykroyd reunited the original band in 1988 for a world tour and again in 1998 for a sequel to the film, Blues Brothers 2000. Aykroyd and the band, occasionally joined by Belushi's brother Jim, make regular appearances at musical festivals worldwide.

What's all the noise
I'm in the backroom
With the girls and boys
Were' discussing the blues
And they don't seem to see
The blues is all I play
The blues don't bother me
When I was a little boy
Sittin' on my papa's knee
I coulden't a been no older than two or three
He said I am a blues man
You're gonna take after me
After me
The blues is my companion
The blues don't bother me
They don't bother me
No they don't
When I go to bed at night
I'll throw on a record or two
If I didn't have these blues
I woulden't know what to do
I need them to soothe me
To ease my misery
The blues is my companion
They don't bother me
They don't bother me
The blues don't bother me
They don't bother me
Keeps me company
I got the blues
Relieves my misery
Keeps me company
The blues don't bother me
I got the blues
In The Blues Brothers' song "The Blues Don't Bother Me," the singer, likely a blues musician, is expressing that despite what others may think or say about his dedication to the blues genre, he embraces it wholeheartedly. He claims that he frequently discusses the blues with other musicians and that the blues is all he plays. Even as a child, his father, also a blues musician, recognized his son's affinity for the blues, and the singer now affirms that the blues is his constant companion that soothes his woes and keeps him company.
The lyrics suggest that the blues is not just a style of music for the singer, but a way of life. The singer's love for the blues is deeply ingrained and passed down from his father. The line "the blues don't bother me" is not a statement of indifference, but rather a declaration of acceptance and comfort with a sometimes sad and melancholic genre. The singer's desire for the blues is almost like a need, as he claims he wouldn't know what to do without them.
Overall, the song suggests that the blues are an essential part of the singer's identity, and he embraces them fully, regardless of any social stigmas or criticisms towards the genre.

My family is from Indianola, Mississippi, down in the Delta, the hometown of Mr B.B. King, and Mr. Willie Clayton also. I was raised up on Blues, and I was around a lot of Chicago Blues musicians, and blues vocalist since I was a baby. I absolutely like, and love Blues. The Blues don't bother me. ππ
