Love Me
The Borns Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
You say you love me so bad but you won't let me be myself
You say you love me so bad but I can't act like no one else
You say you love me so bad baby that's not how I do
You say you love me so bad why can't we play the hand we're dealt
Love me, love me, love me, love me like you want to be loved
Love me, love me, love me, love me like you want to be loved
Or you're gonna lose, me lose me, lose me baby 'cause I can't be what you want
You say lately I've been acting strangely and irrationally
And after all the things I've said, you're confused and rightfully
I said I want to take you there when she tries I just retreat
And says that I won't open up and when I do she's pulling teeth
I admit that I have some baggage I ain't ready to release
Commitment in relationships comes with difficulty
She says I sabotage myself I said I don't disagree
She says until you leave the past behind we'll never be happy
Love me, love me, love me, love me like you want to be loved
Or you're gonna lose, me lose me, lose me baby 'cause I can't be what you want
Love me, love me, love me, love me like you want to be loved
Or you're gonna lose, me lose me, lose me baby 'cause I can't be what you want
Spend to much time thinking 'bout the things that you don't have
Are you so blind that you can't see what's in your hands
Love is never more than just a breath away
Baby say my name I'll be there instantly
We could be so close but still you hesitate
Can't release the memory of yesterday
Love me, love me, love me, love me like you want to be loved
Or you're gonna lose, me lose me, lose me baby 'cause I can't be what you want
Love me, love me, love me, love me like you want to be loved
Or you're gonna lose, me lose me, lose me baby 'cause I can't be what you want
You say you love me so bad but you won't let me be myself
You say you love me so bad but I can't act like no one e
lse. The Borns's song Love me is a heart-wrenching tale of a failing relationship. The singer is being told that they are loved, but the other person won't let them be themselves. They are being forced to act a certain way and to be someone they're not. The song speaks to the ironic nature of relationships where people often claim to love someone, but in doing so, restrict that person's ability to be themselves. The chorus of the song begs the other person to love them the way they want to be loved or risk losing them.
The first verse of the song talks about how the other person believes that they love the singer so much, but they won't let them be themselves. They want the singer to act a certain way, but that's not who they are. The singer is frustrated because they feel like they can't be themselves, and that's not how they want to live their life. The second verse of the song talks about how the singer is aware that they've been acting strangely, and that it's confusing the other person. They also acknowledge that they've been dragging their past into their present relationship, making it difficult for the relationship to thrive.
The bridge of the song talks about how people spend too much time thinking about what they don't have and fail to appreciate what they do have in their hands. Love is never far away, and the singer is pleading with the other person to take a chance and let love in. However, the other person is still hesitant, being pulled back by memories of the past, which is causing the relationship to suffer.
Overall, the song is a powerful reflection on the ups and downs of relationships, how they can bring people together, but at the same time, they can also tear people apart. The song is a reminder that love should never be forced, and that people should let each other be themselves to create healthy, happy relationships.

Mostly Brenda
Another obscure Brenda video about to surpass 100K views. As the up-loader, it is particularly satisfying to bring such overlooked performances to the public's attention and have them become popular.
Time for some fun facts:
1) The songwriter was Bob Morrison. His most famous composition was "You Decorated My Life" , co-written by Debbie Hupp. It was a big hit for Kenny Rodgers.
2) He also got songwriter's credit for making minor changes to Johnny Lee's "Lookin' for Love (in all the wrong places)" from Urban Cowboy, although the song was mainly written by Wanda Mallette and Patti Ryan.
3) "Born to Love Me" was first recorded by Roy Orbison in 1977 for his Regeneration album.
4) Far as I know, neither Roy's version nor any other version made the charts. Please inform if this is incorrect.
5) This version, of course, has the gender of the lyrics changed in order for Brenda to sing it.
6) Bob Morrison is the only member of the Country Songwriting Hall of Fame with a degree in nuclear engineering. This explains the glowing radiance of Brenda's performance. : - )

Ooh that lady shines and it is most definitely the best version of the beautiful Bob Morrison love song I have heard. They look as together singing this as Torvil and Dean. I found it by accident. I dedicate it to the love of my life. Thank you Noor

+Rey Palustre You're very welcome. Brenda has a way of putting highs and lows into her interpretations. Here, she builds the song around the high notes on the word "Me".
