@@ethanschmid4104 Well yeah retired from conducting the Boston Pops. Not retired from Composing as well as Performing with Orchestras all together. He conducted the Vienna Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic in the Last two years afterall.

Believe it or not, the orchestra is an absolute lockstep with his tempo instructions, and if he were to change them (even for no apparently reason), they would follow. Look up some of his recorded scoring sessions where he is subtly adjusting tempo to make the music fit perfectly with the already edited film footage.
