They made a name for themselves by consistently touring over the United States. Rather than signing with a known label, they initially decided to found their own, Chunksaah Records (named after their long-time friend Timmy Chunks), but are now releasing their albums on Epitaph Records.
The Bouncing Souls are one of the best selling and longest lived of the punk bands from New Jersey, following the legacy of previously successful punk bands Adrenalin OD and the Misfits.

The Bouncing Souls Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Or is there no point for us to even try
Back when we didn't have a care in the world, Getting drunk and chasing girls
Do you remember the days gone past
And how we always wanted the good times to last
The time we spent hanging out
Is how we learned what life is about
Everything is set for the perfect night
It gets inside and helps you to be
All that you want and you are free
Those times that we all hoped would last
It seems that they've gone by so fast
I woke up one day and I was 25
With a hell of a hangover and some demented sense of pride
All we had was our dreams that's all we needed to be free
After the party came and went
I found myself half bent
I had to stop and look around
And my friends were all I found
All these things I thought were wrong
But these contradictions they made me strong
I know I can be free and it all came from inside of me
All we had was our dreams
That's all we needed to be free
Do you remember?
I do!
The Bouncing Souls's song "87" serves as a nostalgic reminder of the past as the band members reflect on their youth and how they used to spend their time. The lyrics contemplate the fleeting nature of time and how quickly the once carefree days have passed. The song is a commentary on how life picks up speed after adolescence and how it's easy to get swept up in the flow of adulthood, sometimes forgetting the simpler times.
The lyrics describe the band members getting drunk and chasing girls during their youth and highlighting how youthful exuberance and spontaneity helped shape them. They reminisce about how listening to music helped them break free from their worries and be their true selves. The singer's realization towards the end of the song - that all they needed was their dreams to be free - serves as a powerful reminder to keep chasing after dreams.
