They made a name for themselves by consistently touring over the United States. Rather than signing with a known label, they initially decided to found their own, Chunksaah Records (named after their long-time friend Timmy Chunks), but are now releasing their albums on Epitaph Records.
The Bouncing Souls are one of the best selling and longest lived of the punk bands from New Jersey, following the legacy of previously successful punk bands Adrenalin OD and the Misfits.

I'm going away, experiences have to come
and the past has got to go
back into our dreams
anchors aweigh my friends
everybody understands that good times,
that good times come and they go
back into our dreams
back into our dreams
And our troubles, we can't leave them behind
but the wind blows and blows them all away
and the road goes... and takes them all away
... back into our dreams
The lyrics to The Bouncing Souls' song "Anchors Aweigh" speak to the idea of moving forward in life and leaving the past behind. The phrase "anchors aweigh" is a nautical term used to signify when a ship's anchor has been lifted and it's ready to set sail. In the context of the song, it's a metaphor for moving on from whatever has been holding you back.
The first verse speaks to the idea that in order to grow and have new experiences, we sometimes have to let go of the past. However, the singer wants to assure their friends that they will see them again someday. The second verse acknowledges that life is full of ups and downs, but that it's important to stick together through it all. The line "and together we will always flow" suggests that connection and community are integral parts of navigating life's challenges.
The chorus reminds us that even though we can't necessarily leave our troubles behind, the passage of time and the support of those around us can help ease the burden. The repeated phrase "back into our dreams" brings a sense of hope and possibility, suggesting that there is always a brighter future ahead.

The bridge gets me in knots...every single time I hear it. It has since '03, and it still does today. There has always been something so profound and sincere about the Bouncing Souls music that captures the essence of humanity, triumph and tragedy alike. Don't know if there's a better song written about the inevitability of time passing and having to move on.

The thing that always gets me about this video and that part of the song specifically is that it features some of the most crucial people in the Souls history like Kate and Johnny X, who’ve been there since the beginning and stuck by the band’s side through all the ups and downs.
