They made a name for themselves by consistently touring over the United States. Rather than signing with a known label, they initially decided to found their own, Chunksaah Records (named after their long-time friend Timmy Chunks), but are now releasing their albums on Epitaph Records.
The Bouncing Souls are one of the best selling and longest lived of the punk bands from New Jersey, following the legacy of previously successful punk bands Adrenalin OD and the Misfits.

The Bouncing Souls Lyrics

East coast! F*** you!
East coast! F*** you!
E! A! S! T!
You can say we're weather martyr's,
But snow and ice makes us rock harder
The pizza here is fierce and tasty
East coast! F*** you!
East coast! F*** you!
East coast! F*** you!
NYC! Boston! (D-C!) Philly! Jersey!
We go out west and play some shows
Then we know it's time to go
Pack the truck and drive on back
New York's better and that's a fact
East coast! F*** you!
East coast! F*** you!
East coast! F*** you!
The Bouncing Souls' song ECFU is an ode to the East Coast of the United States while simultaneously giving it the "middle finger". The repeated "East coast! F*** you!" chant is an anthem that serves as a response to the West Coast's dominance in the punk rock scene. The song is a celebration of the East Coast's toughness and resilience in the face of harsh winters and treacherous weather, which only serves to make them even more resilient and determined as musicians.
The lyrics also reference the East Coast's iconic food, with a special shoutout to the pizza culture of the region. The band members take pride in their pale and pasty appearances, which they believe makes them more authentic punk rockers. The inclusion of specific cities such as New York City, Boston, Philly, and New Jersey serve to drive home the point that the East Coast is something to be proud of and that it's "better" than the West Coast.
