They made a name for themselves by consistently touring over the United States. Rather than signing with a known label, they initially decided to found their own, Chunksaah Records (named after their long-time friend Timmy Chunks), but are now releasing their albums on Epitaph Records.
The Bouncing Souls are one of the best selling and longest lived of the punk bands from New Jersey, following the legacy of previously successful punk bands Adrenalin OD and the Misfits.

Highway Kings
The Bouncing Souls Lyrics

thinking back on how simple it used to be.
Can it ever be that way again?
I'm drinking this one to my friends.
Looks like they'll be here till the end.
Till the bitter end.
What are dreams for, anyway,
without the guts to live your life that way?
Chasing our destinies.
Cruising through a timezone
as the world stands still.
Harvest moon in a desert sky.
Making good time as we pass it by.
Wherever this road takes us, it was meant to be.
We're already home.
What are dreams for, anyway,
without the guts to live your life that way?
What are songs for, anyway,
without the guts to live your life that way?
Learned to let go
of the things we can't control.
Left em behind and followed rock and roll.
We found a new way of life.
Forever till the end of time.
But never getting old.
The Bouncing Souls's song Highway Kings is a nostalgic reflection on how life used to be simple and carefree. The singer is drinking and reminiscing about past experiences and friendships. The lyrics suggest that the road they are traveling on is a metaphor for their journey in life. They are the "highway kings," chasing their destinies, and living life on their own terms, without fear or regret.
The chorus of the song asks what dreams and songs are for if you don't have the courage to go after them. The band is encouraging listeners to take risks, follow their dreams, and live life to the fullest. They sing about leaving behind the things they can't control and embracing a new way of life. The lyrics suggest that music and a love of rock and roll can provide a sense of freedom and purpose in life.
This song is an anthem for those who choose to live life on their own terms, even if it means taking risks and facing challenges. The lyrics encourage listeners to embrace change, let go of the past, and move forward with confidence. The Bouncing Souls's song Highway Kings is a reminder that life is a journey, and it's up to us to make the most of it.
