They made a name for themselves by consistently touring over the United States. Rather than signing with a known label, they initially decided to found their own, Chunksaah Records (named after their long-time friend Timmy Chunks), but are now releasing their albums on Epitaph Records.
The Bouncing Souls are one of the best selling and longest lived of the punk bands from New Jersey, following the legacy of previously successful punk bands Adrenalin OD and the Misfits.

In Sleep

Riding through New Mexico in June
Left alone with my thoughts
Underneath the pale blue moon
In sleep, sweet escape
Alone out on a beach
The sky is on fire, I walk to the sea
My heart is free and I drift away, drift away
My heart is free and I drift away, drift away
In sleep, sweet escape
Riding under the desert sun
With your arms around my sides
In a never ending run
In sleep, sweet escape
I float above myself
And I see the world we made in a warmer light
My heart is free and I drift away, drift away
My heart is free and I drift away, drift away
I know it's gonna be all right when I see you
When I see you in my dreams tonight
And I know you're gonna be all mine when I see you
When I see you in my dreams tonight
My heart is free and I drift away, drift away
My heart is free and I drift away, drift away
The Bouncing Souls' song "In Sleep" depicts the power of the mind to escape reality through the comforting world of dreams. The phrase "In sleep, sweet escape" implies that the act of sleeping is an escape mechanism that can offer peace from the stressors of life. The singer takes the opportunity to wander at will through various breathtaking landscapes and scenarios, with the hope of finding his lost tranquility.
The song's opening two lines, "In sleep, sweet escape, Riding through New Mexico in June," introduces the listener to the singer's newfound freedom in his dreams. The use of "Riding" denotes movement and action, which are essential elements of the singer's mental escape. The mention of New Mexico in June brings to the listener's mind scorching heat, and the dry barren landscape of the American Southwest.
The song continues with the lyrics "Left alone with my thoughts, Underneath the pale blue moon." These lines suggest the singer's vulnerability and exposed state of mind. Despite the comforting atmosphere of his dreams, the constant presence of his thoughts remains inescapable.
In conclusion, "In Sleep" by The Bouncing Souls is a song about the power of the human imagination and the necessity of finding solace in mind. The song's vivid imagery and introspective nature reveal the importance of finding inner peace amid life's troubles.

This song sounds like a lot of the stuff from Hopeless Romantic, which had this lighters-in-the-air drunken ballad feel. Glad to see the Souls still playing the good stuff.

I think it's unfortunate that some people can't "feel" the truth in the B.S. Nonetheless... I went and saw these guys a few months ago with this stupid chick. The chick sucked, but man I'll never forget seeing them, it was my second time, and I love them. Keep going B.S... I'll always listen.

I love how Rise finally sign an actual band with TALENT and everyone's up in arms that they don't sound like the other crap on that label.

I think this band should totally tour with Transit and A Loss For Words, just to get them more out there. Cause they are so good!
