They made a name for themselves by consistently touring over the United States. Rather than signing with a known label, they initially decided to found their own, Chunksaah Records (named after their long-time friend Timmy Chunks), but are now releasing their albums on Epitaph Records.
The Bouncing Souls are one of the best selling and longest lived of the punk bands from New Jersey, following the legacy of previously successful punk bands Adrenalin OD and the Misfits.

Less Than Free
The Bouncing Souls Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Seems I lost everything I ever feared
All that shit I guessed would last
Now you've become confused
Between your lies and your past
Sometimes I give up
Sometimes I throw away time
Right along with the words
For sanity, my mind grows numb
No, I fear I've lost my humor
Of what I've become
I'm not sure just what I need
But I will never be less than free
Faith believes where there's nothing to be seen
More dumb parties, I see no scene
Hiding your eyes, denying what you deem
Maybe that's what faith really means
You say that I'm out of touch
But I'm somebody you could never touch
Four chords anyone could play
Facile words that can be taken several ways
I'm not sure just what I need
But I will never be less than free
In The Bouncing Souls' song "Less Than Free," the lyrics appear to be about the struggles of finding oneself and battling loneliness. The first stanza talks about feeling like the singer has lost everything they ever feared and all the things they thought would last. The singer then reflects on their life, sometimes feeling like they give up or throw away time, and sometimes struggling to find the right words to say. "For sanity, my mind grows numb / No, I fear I've lost my humor / Of what I've become" these lyrics indicate the feeling of hopelessness and numbness.
The second stanza talks about faith and how sometimes people miss the point of faith because they get caught up in other things. The singer acknowledges that people may see them as "out of touch" but ultimately they cannot be touched in the same way as others. The song ends on a hopeful note, with the singer stating that they may not know what they need, but they will never be "less than free."
Overall, the lyrics of "Less Than Free" appear to be a mix of introspective reflection and commentary on the human experience.
