Raised wit the wolves no rats to eat the cheese
Rose from the bottom watch niggaz hit rock bottom
Blows from the struggle, trying hard not to settle
Move like am Barry Gordy take more towns
The tongue is a mighty sword I kill it wit dope sounds
Ain't gotta compete wit these niggaz they all gimmicks
Knew I would get better cos I pushed pass the limit
Find ma way to heaven no gps no regrets
Yea take shots hit the weed next
Smoke Dini I'm too high to be depressed
Too many niggaz phony, one and only, die by my lonely
Ma matrimony to music the only thing that will do me
I swerve thru the bs the world tryna screw me
Ma OGz gave some life lessons that will school me.
Word to the man on the hill, aim is to kill
Smoke the type of nigga to chill, let's be for real
Bleed from the pain we acquire I watch the women and men cry
I sing like the choir reachin the most high
Do it again if I try strike on a instant
For instance the smoke will take the game with two henchmen
The pressure I apply the most
This for the kids on the corner wit no morals and daddy to show em the ropes
Everybody wishin, they hope
Equality what they ask for but now they pointing fingers at the woke
Dreams saw myself on the road rockin arenas
The meanest wit the will to turn the dirty to the cleanest
I go thru mad emotions, ma devotion be for the takers
Lethal I be the potent who stay in motion for paper
I fuck around n leave a nigga ass on the floor kiss the pavement
I'll be the last image u'll be facing
The Box's song Hold On is an upbeat track that contrasts the darker subject matter of the lyrics. The song opens with the repetition of the phrase "Hold on," which sets the tone for the message of the song; it's a reminder to keep going, to persevere through tough times. The main theme of this song is cocaine addiction and how it can destroy a person's life, but ultimately, it's up to the person to change their path. The line "Cocaine, cocaine to go straight to your brain" is a nod to the addictive nature of drugs and how quickly they can take hold.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Hold on" four times in succession. Each time the phrase is repeated, it is punctuated by a melodic "ooh" and "ahh" harmony that underscores the emotional urgency of the message. The "hold on" phrase is often used as a way of telling someone to hang in there, to keep going when things get tough.
The verses of the song are a little more cryptic than the chorus, but they seem to be a reflection on past memories and the pain that can come with addiction. The lines "Remember when there was no side / Remember all the time gone by" suggest that the lyrics are looking back on better times, before the addiction took hold. The repetition of "remember" emphasizes the nostalgia and longing for those times.
