The lyrics of the song "Incubus" by The Box describe the experience of a person who is suffering from a fever and has been feeling sad for some days. The person is haunted by a hidden fear that seems to be present both during the day and at night. Even the sleep is affected by a nightmare that makes the person afraid of going to bed. The lyrics are full of vivid and grotesque images that express the sense of being trapped and unable to escape from a terrifying force.
The song creates a surreal and atmospheric mood, evoking the feeling of being trapped and helpless in the face of an unknown and uncontrollable fear. I feel like a being is approaching me, I feel it, I feel it without seeing it") convey the sense of a presence that is both invisible and malevolent. The image of the being climbing on the bed and strangling the person while feeding on their soul is particularly striking and disturbing.
Overall, "Incubus" is a song that explores the theme of fear and its power to paralyze and overwhelm the human mind. The lyrics suggest that fear can take many forms and can be triggered by different sources, from illness to existential angst. The song is a testament to the power of music to convey complex emotions and experiences in a powerful and compelling way.

Je souffre d'une forte fièvre
I am experiencing intense emotion
Depuis quelques jours déjà
It has been ongoing for some time
Une tristesse m'envahit
Sadness fills me
It weighs on me without reason
J'ai sans cesse... la sourde crainte,
I am constantly plagued by a deep fear
Que plane une menace jour et nuit
That a threat lingers day and night
Même le sommeil me trahit
Even sleep betrays me
Et hante mes nuits d'un cauchemar
And fills my nights with nightmares
Chaque soir désormais
Now every evening
I feel it rising with every passing hour
Comme une terreur absurde
Like an absurd terror
À l'idée même de gagner mon lit
At the mere thought of going to bed
J'y entre comme on glisserait
I enter it like sliding
Into a black and icy abyss
Il va me saisir par la tête
It will seize me by the head
And drown me in anxiety
I sense a presence approaching me, I feel it without seeing it
It watches and observes me silently
It watches over me like a predator
Puis il grimpe lentement sur mon lit
Then it climbs slowly onto my bed
And kneels on my chest
It takes me by the neck with its hands
Telles des araignées et il serre...
Like spiders, it tightens...
De toutes ses forces
With all its strength
Until a trickle escapes
de lueur incolore... d'entre mes lèvres
Of colorless light... from between my lips
C'est ma vie qui me quitte
It is my life leaving me
Aspirée par cet être qui me tient...
Drawn by the being holding me...
And gorges itself on my soul
I want to push away the thing that is crushing me
Mais mon corps refuse de bouger
But my body won't move
Je ne peux pas hurler
I cannot scream
Je ne peux pas m'enfuir
I cannot escape
Condamné aux affres de ce monstre
Condemned to the torments of this monster
Imaginez qu'un homme se réveille
Imagine a man waking up
Un couteau dans la gorge,
A knife in his throat,
Dans une mare de sang...
In a pool of blood...
He cannot breathe, he knows he's going to die
And he gurgles... and he doesn't understand...
Et ainsi donc chaque nuit
And so every night
I find myself in a sweat... alone in the dark
D'une main chancelante j'allume une bougie
With a shaking hand, I light a candle
And I remain collapsed... until dawn
