Shitty Future
The Bronx Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Gimme intervention, baby
So sweet and slow
The half-hearted misdirection
Baby, where will we go?

Slit wrists are the latest fashion
And your sheets see the dirtiest action
Where independent mothers
Throw kids in loveless gutters

We need an intervention, baby
We couldn't get much weaker
With neon lights for veins
Here comes our shitty future!
Oh yeah, I love those neon nights
Here comes our shitty future!

Slit wrists are the latest fashion
And your sheets see the dirtiest action
Where independent mothers
Throw kids in loveless gutters
Slit wrists are the latest fashion
And your sheets see the dirtiest action
Where independent mothers
Throw kids in loveless gutters

Here comes your shitty future!
One more time, your shitty future!
YEAH, OH YEAH!

WHOA!
Slit wrists are the latest fashion
And your sheets see the dirtiest action
Where independent mothers

Throw kids in loveless gutters
Yeah!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of The Bronx's song Shitty Future describe a bleak and volatile world where people are consumed by their vices and self-destructive tendencies. The opening lines, "Gimme intervention, baby/So sweet and slow/The half-hearted misdirection/Baby, where will we go?" suggest a desperate plea for help but also a resigned acceptance that the future looks bleak. The reference to "slit wrists" being the latest fashion implies a culture obsessed with self-harm and suicide as well as a society that glorifies death and violence.

The song then goes on to describe a world of "independent mothers" throwing "kids in loveless gutters," suggesting poverty, neglect, and a sense of hopelessness. The use of "neon lights for veins" implies a world of artificiality, where people are numb to their own emotions and exist solely to indulge in their own desires. The repeated refrain of "Here comes our shitty future!" serves as a warning and a reminder of the consequences of our own choices, as well as a commentary on the state of society as a whole.

Overall, the lyrics of Shitty Future paint a dark and disturbing picture of a world consumed by its own vices, where individuals have lost all sense of purpose, and the future looks bleak and uncertain. The song serves as a commentary on the dangers of self-indulgence, apathy, and nihilism, and the consequences of neglecting our responsibilities to ourselves and each other.

The Bronx II is one of the most amazing albums ever, I remember before I got it Strobe Life was my favourite song of theirs, then at least three from this album topped that. Dirty Leaves is just phenominal, possibly the best song of the century

BaronWVS

Probably the coolest band right now.
