The group was formed by record producer / composer, Tony Hiller, and originally featured the well-travelled vocalist, Tony Burrows. In 1970 they had a hit single with "United We Stand", which not only was a heavily played record on British radio, but also broke the American market. By the time they broke the voting record for Eurovision and sold well over one million copies of "Save Your Kisses For Me", the line up had totally changed. After Eurovision, they had a number of hits in the UK, including two more chart-toppers, but long term success proved to be elusive.
In 1992, Sandra Stevens told Eurovision Network's magazine that Brotherhood of Man had been shortlisted to sing in A Song for Europe 1983. However she said that the group changed its mind, preferring to be remembered for winning the Eurovision Song Contest as opposed to possibly losing a UK qualifying heat. However their song, "When the Kissing Stops" remained in the contest and was performed by another group, Rubic. It came sixth.
"Save Your Kisses For Me" was nominated as one of the final five finalists in the 50th anniversary Eurovision concert held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in October 2005 and was the highest placed UK song.

The Brotherhood of Man Lyrics

I just gotta set you free Out of this house of misery
Lady Lady, my lady Be my lady Love me tonight
Lady Lady, my lady Be my lady Make everything right
Gonna lift you from that gloom And take you from this backstreetroom
Lady Lady, my lady Be my lady Love me tonight
Lady Lady, my lady Be my lady Make everything right
And the past will be a bad dream To me you'll always be a queen
Lady Lady, my lady Be my lady Love me tonight
Lady Lady, my lady Be my lady Make everything right
Lady Lady, my lady Be my lady Love me tonight
The Brotherhood of Man released "Lady" in 1974 as a single from their album "Good Things Happening." The song is about a man who falls in love with a woman who is forced to sell her favors for a price. He wants to rescue her from that life and set her free from the "house of misery" that she is trapped in. He is willing to do whatever it takes to gain her trust and love.
The lyrics highlight the struggle of women who are exploited and forced to make a living by selling their bodies. The man in the song sees past the woman's current situation and recognizes her worth as a human being. His desire to "make everything right" and "take you from this backstreet room" shows his compassion and devotion towards her. He sees her as his lady, as someone who deserves love and happiness.
The song's message resonated with many listeners, and it became a hit in several countries, including the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands. It was also used as the theme song for the British TV show "Man About the House." The song's success helped the band gain popularity and establish themselves as one of the leading groups of the disco era.

Mmmm, I know that it's wrong with me
I acknowledge that what I'm doing is not right
To buy you hospitality
To try and win your affection with material possessions
But, baby, what else can I do?

There's no other way to get through to you
I feel like this is the only way to connect with you
I just gotta set you free
I want to liberate you
Out of this house of misery
From this unhappy place you currently reside in
Lady Lady, my lady
I refer to you in different ways to emphasize my admiration for you

Others blame someone else for your troubles
He let you to the house of shame
He allowed you to be led to a disreputable place
To sell your favour for a price
To exchange your affections for money or something else of value
I knew, no, baby, that ain't so nice
I disagree with that behavior
Gonna lift you from that gloom
I want to rescue you from your unhappy situation
And take you from this backstreetroom
And bring you to a better place

Quite possibly the worst choreography and location selection of all time.
Sandris Jansons
People didn't concentrate on choreography back then . Music was the essence . That's why I don't like much of nowadays acts as they do the 50 people show with week tunes :)
