And the storm's brewing in this heart of mine
This ain't no crazy dream I know that it's real
And you're someone else's love now you're not mine
Crazy arms that reach to hold somebody new
And my yearning heart keeps saying you're not mine
My troubled mind knows soon to another you'll be wed
And that's why I'm lonely all the time
So please take these treasured dreams I have for you and me
And take all the love I thought was mine
Someday these crazy arms will hold somebody new but now I'm so lonely all the time
Crazy arms that reach to hold somebody new
And my yearning heart keeps saying you're not mine
My troubled mind knows soon to another you'll be wed
And that's why I'm lonely all the time
And that's why I'm lonely all the time
The lyrics to the song Crazy Arms by The Bunch are a poignant expression of personal pain and heartbreak. It appears to be a song about a failed relationship where the singer is struggling to come to terms with the reality that the love they once shared is now lost. The song’s opening lines depict the singer’s inner turmoil and the storm brewing within their heart. The use of the phrase ‘crazy arms’ is a metaphor for the singer’s desperate attempt to reach out and hold onto somebody new, to replace the love that they have now lost. However, their yearning heart keeps reminding them that the person they desire is no longer theirs.
The second verse speaks to the singer’s acceptance of reality. They know deep down that the love they had is now gone and the person they desire is moving on to someone else. They are left to deal with their own trouble mind and feelings of loneliness. The final verse seems to represent the singer’s plea to move on from the pain of the past. They appear to be urging their former lover to take their love and cherished memories and move on. Although the singer acknowledges that they will move on too, for now, they are left with their ‘crazy arms’ and a troubled mind.
