In Like Flynn
The Bunny the Bear Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Here's a little toast to you leaving me all alone, bleeding.
And here's another toast to you giving up all you own, dreaming.

Here's a little toast to you leaving me all alone, bleeding.
And here's another toast to you giving up all you own, dreaming.

Well, you've made out on this last crime...
Like a thief in the night selling crack part time.
But I know your beliefs well surpass mine,
And I know I'm a whore on the block with a dime
Weighing light, just a knife in my pocket,
And a heart like a stone, spending all my nights
Trying my best to distinguish your reasons.
Trying my best to distinguish wrong from right.

Here's a little toast to you leaving me all alone, bleeding.
And here's another toast to you giving up all you own, dreaming.

Here's a little toast to you leaving me all alone, bleeding.
And here's another toast to you giving up all you own, dreaming.

And I'll say,
Well, I'll say,
Yes, I'll say it again.

You're a crutch for my life, it's alright.
Treating all my desperate thinking.
I'm offering my life, I'm alright.
I'll bleed myself with lack of meaning.

Here's a little toast to you leaving me all alone, bleeding.
And here's another toast to you giving up all you own, dreaming.

Here's a little toast to you leaving me all alone, bleeding.
And here's another toast to you giving up all you own, dreaming.

Here's a little toast to you leaving me all alone.
And here's another toast to you giving up all you own.

Here's a little toast to you leaving me all alone.
And here's another toast to you giving up all you own.

Overall Meaning

"In Like Flynn" by The Bunny the Bear is a song that portrays the aftermath of a bitter and painful breakup. The song opens with the lines "Here's a little toast to you leaving me all alone, bleeding. And here's another toast to you giving up all you own, dreaming." The lyrics suggest that the person who has been left behind is hurt and alone, while the one who left is chasing a dream, even if it means giving up everything they have.

The song goes on to describe the conflicting emotions of the singer, who knows that their ex-partner has moved on, but still harbors feelings of love and longing. The verse "But I know your beliefs well surpass mine, and I know I'm a whore on the block with a dime weighing light, just a knife in my pocket, and a heart like a stone, spending all my nights trying my best to distinguish your reasons. Trying my best to distinguish wrong from right." suggests that the singer is struggling to reconcile their own feelings with the actions of their ex-partner.

The chorus repeats the opening lines of the song, adding a sense of finality to the breakup. The repeated toasts might be interpreted as a farewell message from the singer to their ex, wishing them well on their new journey. The song ends with the lines "Here's a little toast to you leaving me all alone. And here's another toast to you giving up all you own" which reiterates the core message of the song.

So alright. As many of you seem to be having a hard time understanding the meaning of this video, let me tell you my own point of view:

A young girl falls in love with a tree, she dances around it and embraces it as an expression of love. However, despite the girl's unconditional love, the cold, emotionless tree is unable to show any kind of affection towards the girl. She then leaves and the years go by...

Many years later, the girl would return to the tree she originally fell in love with as a child. She holds its branch (which basically expresses two people holding each other's hands), but the branch falls to the ground. The girl then notices that the tree is bleeding badly so she rips her left arm off and replaces the tree's disconnected branch with her own hand.

But the tree doesn't show any sign of gratefulness. Instead it takes advantage of the girl's kindness, grabs her other arm, rips it off too and keeps it to itself.

Moral of the story: If you fall in love with someone or something that will never give you the love back, they'll take everything away from you and you'll end up with nothing but emptiness on the inside. The tree represents all those cold-hearted, selfish, narcissistic men/women that only take and never give anything in return for you. You know, the meanest kind of people that would rob your heart and steal everything away from you just to feel better about themselves.

Feel free to share your own point of view!
