Clouds so swift

Rain won’t lift

Gate won’t close

Railings froze

Get your mind off wintertime

You ain’t goin’ nowhere

Whoo-ee! Ride me high

Tomorrow’s the day

My bride’s gonna come

Oh, oh, are we gonna fly

Down in the easy chair!

I don’t care

How many letters they sent

Morning came and morning went

Pick up your money

And pack up your tent

You ain’t goin’ nowhere

Whoo-ee! Ride me high

Tomorrow’s the day

My bride’s gonna come

Oh, oh, are we gonna fly

Down in the easy chair!

Buy me a flute

And a gun that shoots

Tailgates and substitutes

Strap yourself

To the tree with roots

You ain’t goin’ nowhere

Whoo-ee! Ride me high

Tomorrow’s the day

My bride’s gonna come

Oh, oh, are we gonna fly

Down in the easy chair!

Genghis Khan

He could not keep

All his kings

Supplied with sleep

We’ll climb that hill no matter how steep

When we get up to it

Whoo-ee! Ride me high

Tomorrow’s the day

My bride’s gonna come

Oh, oh, are we gonna fly

Down in the easy chair!

I grew up listening to this song. I think it's underrated

This album may not have been a commercial hot but it is my favorite Byrds album and one of my all time favorites! Great job on the slide show.

As a single, this was a shock to the pop music world. Could this possibly be The Byrds? When the album came out, it was the first where McGuinn was credited as "Roger". Nearly everyone thought this was "Jim's brother", not his REAL brother (Brian), but simply someone else, which hugely depressed album sales. The complete absence of his 12 string Rickenbacker on the album and even of his name coupled with the totally different style of music utterly doomed "Sweetheart" to abysmal sales. Only subsequent albums, fierce worldwide touring, and McGuinn's establishing a new identity for The Byrds with Clarence White, Gene Parsons, et al eventually brought thousands of appreciative music fans to discover "Sweetheart..." and its unique beauty. Possibly the bravest experiment EVER by a major music group.

Very well put indeed and accurate
