Tennessee Mojo
The Cadillac Three Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I got my boots laced on with my guitar strings
Every step I take I'm nothing but a saint (way down south, don't ya know)
Callin' me home like a deer camp fall
I ain't found nothing better anywhere I've gone

Back down south don't ya know
The girls just got that Tennessee Mojo
Kiss my mouth, let the whiskey flow
Gonna hang my hat when I get back home
The one sweet thing that I miss the most…
Oh, Tennessee Mojo

Well the sun shines brighter than the golden sand
All the pretty ladies wanna hold my hand (way down south, don't ya know)
Yeah, the cowboys smoke 'em, that's what my kinfolk say
I work all night just to sleep all day

Back down south don't ya know
The girls just got that Tennessee Mojo
Kiss my mouth, let the whiskey flow
Gonna hang my hat when I get back home
The one sweet thing that I miss the most…
Oh, Tennessee Mojo

Back down south don't ya know
The girls just got that Tennessee Mojo
Kiss my mouth, let the whiskey flow
Gonna hang my hat when I get back home

Back down south don't ya know
The girls just got that Tennessee Mojo
Kiss my mouth, let the whiskey flow
Gonna hang my hat when I get back home
The one sweet thing that I miss the most…

The one sweet thing that I miss the most…
Tennessee Mojo

Overall Meaning

The Cadillac Three's song "Tennessee Mojo" is a celebration of the South and its distinctive culture. The singer spends his days traveling, but he knows that his true home is in Tennessee. He laces up his boots and picks up his guitar, ready to head back to the place he loves. In Tennessee, he finds everything he needs - beautiful girls with "mojo", whiskey flowing freely, and a sense of belonging that he can't find anywhere else. He sings that he is "nothing but a saint" with each step he takes in his home state, clearly suggesting that Tennessee is his slice of heaven.

Just saw The Cadillac Three in Portland OR opening for Hank Williams Jr. These guys effing killed it, they're all I listen to, I have been looking for southern rock lately and came with nothing, that is until I saw the Cadillac three :) This song makes me wanna drink, dance, ride my Harley, make love, hang with friends / family, hell it just makes you feel good. The guitar riffs in this song are nuts, really hope these guys get more airtime, more coverage, and this is the direction country music is headed.
