New touring members joined after the album was recorded: Sean Woolstenhulme (guitars), Billy Mohler (bass), and Nate Wood (drums). Band and Kamin returned in June 2004 with Two (also known as 'II'). New touring musicians were hired: Daniel Damico (guitars), Justin Derrico (gutars), Corey Britz (bass), and Justin Meyer (drums). Despite radio-friendly tracks and an enthusiastic fan response, the album failed to meet commercial expectations, leading to tension between the group and the label.
In June 2005, the band announced they were going on hiatus, and frontman Alex Band announced plans to publish a solo album. Alex finished recording his album, entitled We've All Been There, and released it in May 2010, with the first single "Tonight" released the preceeding February. Alex also pre-released the album through a bracelet line called Blackstar Bracelets, which can be purchased at a number of department stores in the U.S. as well as online.
The Calling reformed in 2013, with a new line-up still featuring Alex Band, and this incarnation of the band played its first gig on August 16 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The otherwise joyous event was marred by a kidnapping incident involving Band, with the musician beaten-up and then dumped after being mugged. Having recovered, the group is currently touring for its cult fanbase.

To carry me through
All the moments, I'd kindly undo
Locked away
So I can feel safe
Now that I'm down on my knees, begging for change
Look down at the water
To find I was sinking fast, in all the might have been
What I need now is an honest answer, to make things better
You can see now my hands are tied, and I surrender
So I'll wait here for your final answer, your final answer
Is there love without hate
Is there pleasure without pain?
I have seen all my mistakes
I cast you out, but now, I want you back
So light me again, cause my heart is turning black
What I need now is an honest answer, to make things better
You can see now my hands are tied, and I surrender
So I'll wait here for your final answer, your final answer
Is there love without hate
Is there pleasure without pain?
I have seen all my mistakes
I cast you out, but now, I want you back
So light me again, cause my heart is turning black
Remember the night you wore that dress
It flowed through out lips
Drink after drink, and kiss after kiss
I'm still holding on, day after day
Don't run away
I want love to carry me through
Can you tell me what I'm supposed to do
What I need now is an honest answer, to make things better
You can see now my hands are tied, and I surrender
So I'll wait here for your final answer, your final answer
Is there love without hate
Is there pleasure without pain?
I have seen all my mistakes
I cast you out, but now, I want you back
So light me again, cause my heart is turning black
The lyrics of The Calling's song Final Answer express a plea for love and redemption, as the singer reflects on his past mistakes and longs for a second chance. He feels locked away from happiness and safety, and finds himself begging for change as he contemplates a leap of faith. The chorus repeats the question "Is there love without hate? Is there pleasure without pain?", highlighting the singer's search for a balance that seems elusive. He acknowledges having cast someone important out of his life, and now realizes the value of love as he sees his heart turning black. The lyrics convey a deep sense of regret and a desire to be forgiven, as the singer waits for an honest answer to make things better.
Beyond its powerful emotional content, Final Answer is also notable for its instrumentation and production. The song was released in 2004 as a single from the album Two, and represents a signature sound for The Calling, blending alternative rock with hints of pop and post-grunge. Lead singer Alex Band's distinctive voice is complemented by the band's skillful playing, including guitarist Aaron Kamin's melodic riffs and drummer Nate Wood's driving beats. The song's structure is fairly simple, revolving around a catchy chorus and a few verses that build up to the climactic question of the final answer.
