Third single ‘Wheel of fortune’, a cover of a white hit, reached number 6 on the R’n’B charts in 1952. Ernie Warren was drafted and replaced by Leander Tarver, then James Brown (not the famous one), but was back in time for their last hit, ‘The door is still open’, which reached number 4 R’n’B in 1954. The song "She Rocks" by The Cardinals is a Kannada language song that celebrates the beauty and power of women. The lyrics are metaphorical and filled with traditional and regional imagery. The phrase "Lokada kalaji madatheenanti" is repeated throughout the song, which translates to "the world is a playground," implying that women have the freedom and ability to take charge of their lives.
The lines "Nee maadodu ghaligi santi" means "you are the one who knows how to make wine," which is a metaphor for a woman's ability to create something beautiful out of difficult circumstances. "Melu maalagi kattabekanti" can be translated as "you can fix yourself if you break," and "aane ambari yerabekanti" refers to a majestic elephant crossing a river, which symbolizes a woman's strength and resilience.
The song also touches upon societal pressures and expectations put on women, such as the lines "Baduku baalevu nande anti / nidhi seridashtu saaladu anti" which means "I am not able to save money even though I have a good life, and people criticize my lifestyle." However, the song ultimately celebrates the power and beauty of women, reminding them to be proud of who they are and to take control of their lives.
