And saw a Lamb that was slain
What I actually saw was a Lamb that had been sacrificed.

You are worthy to take up and open the scroll
You, the Lamb who was sacrificed, are worthy to open the sacred scroll.

For You are the Lamb that was slain
This is because you are the Lamb who gave up his life.

Glory and honor to the One on the throne
Praises and recognition are due to the One on the throne.

To the Lamb Who lives and reigns
Praises are also due to the living and ruling Lamb.

Worthy is the Lamb that was slain
The Lamb that was sacrificed is indeed deserving of recognition and honor.

To receive power, wealth, wisdom, and strength
The Lamb receives power, wealth, wisdom, and strength as recognition of his worthiness.

And honor and glory and praise evermore
In addition to power and wealth, the Lamb receives never-ending recognition and appreciation.

From every tribe and language
People from all tribes and languages are included in this recognition.

Every people and nation
All people and nationalities are part of this acknowledgement.

Your blood purchased men for God
The Lamb's blood was the cost paid to redeem people for God.

You won them a kingdom by Your salvation
With his act of sacrifice, the Lamb helped regain people's access to the kingdom of God.

And made them priests to serve our God
The Lamb also paved the way for people to become priests and serve God.

To serve our God
All of these things were done in order to serve and worship God.
