Aitken is the brother of Laurel Aitken, and recorded in the early 1960s for producer King Edwards. He had hits in the ska era of the 1960s with singles such as "Never Never" (1962, Blue Beat), "Baby Baby" (1962, Island Records), "Don't Leave Me", "I've Told You", and "It Takes a Friend" (all 1963), "Jericho" and "Rolling Stone" (1964), "Rain Came Tumbling Down" (1965), "Thunderball" and "Shame & Scandal" (1966), and "What a Fool" (1967). The Carib Beats disbanded in the mid-1960s, with Aitken becoming more involved with his church. He is the father of rising singer Debbi Verbz.

Oh baby, whatcha gonna do
I'm sick and tired of foolin' around with you
Wake up in the mornin' fix you somethin' to eat,
'fore I go to work I even brush your teeth
Get home in the evenin' and you're still in bed
Got yourself a rag tied 'round you're head.
Oh baby, whatcha gonna do
I'm sick and tired of foolin' around with you
I'm tellin' you baby you'd better change your ways
I'm tellin' you baby I mean what I say
Last time tellin you to stop that jive
Gonna find yourself outside
Oh baby, whatcha gonna do
I'm sick and tired of foolin' around with you
Last time tellin' you baby you'd better change your ways
Last time tellin' you baby I mean what I say
Last time tellin you to stop that jive
Gonna find yourself outside
Oh baby, whatcha gonna do
I'm sick and tired of foolin' around with you
The Carib Beats’ song “Oh Babe” is a classic soul song, featuring powerful and evocative lyrics that speak to the complexity of relationships in general, and the frustrations and difficulties that can arise when one partner is not living up to the expectations of the other. The opening verse is particularly striking in its directness, as the singer confronts their partner and asks “Oh baby, whatcha gonna do? / I'm sick and tired of foolin' around with you.” This sets the tone for the rest of the song, which is characterized by a sense of weariness and frustration on the part of the singer.
The following verses give us some insight into the singer’s relationship with their partner, and the many ways in which their partner has failed to meet their needs. The line “Wake up in the mornin' fix you somethin' to eat, / 'fore I go to work I even brush your teeth” suggests that the singer is taking care of their partner almost like a parent, while the line “Got yourself a rag tied 'round you're head” implies that the partner is not taking care of themselves properly either. All of these frustrations build to a climax in the repeating chorus, which is a simple but effective expression of the singer’s exasperation: “Oh baby, whatcha gonna do / I'm sick and tired of foolin' around with you.”
Overall, “Oh Babe” is a powerful expression of frustration and heartbreak, but it is also a song about taking a stand and demanding better. The singer is fed up with their partner’s behavior and is ready to take action to make things right, even if that means ending the relationship.
