The Cars Lyrics

Right here I'd like to melt inside of you
Right here your kiss is totally new
Right here your hands are soft and creamy
Right here your mouth is wet and dreamy
And you know it's just what I like
So dim down the light

(Don't cha stop don't cha stop)
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop)
If it makes you feel good
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop)
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop)
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop)
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop)

Your rhapsody is blowing my cool-ool
Your fantasies there written for the fools
Your long black hair it tickles my skin skin
It feels so luscious come on do it again, oh yeah
And you know it's just what I like
Dim down the light

(Don't cha stop don't cha stop)
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop)
If it makes you feel good
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop)
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop)
If it makes you feel good
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop) don't you stop
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop) don't you stop
If it makes you feel
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop) good, good
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop) good, good
Good, don't cha stop don't cha stop

A don't cha stop if it makes you feel
Good, good, good
Ooh don't cha stop don't cha stop
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop)
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop)
Don't you stop don't cha stop
If it makes you feel
Good, good, good (don't cha stop)
Good, good, good (don't cha stop)
Good, good, good (don't cha stop)
Don't cha stop

(Don't cha stop don't cha stop)
(Don't cha stop don't cha stop)

Overall Meaning

The song "Don't Cha Stop" by The Cars is a passionate love song focusing on the physical and emotional connection between two people. The lyrics describe how the singer wants to be completely absorbed by his lover and how he enjoys being touched and kissed by her. He wants her to keep going and hints that the dimming of the light will only enhance the atmosphere. The chorus repeats the phrase "Don't cha stop" as encouragement for her to keep going and experiment to make them feel good. The lyrics use sensual, descriptive language to create an intoxicating atmosphere of desire and pleasure.

On a deeper level, the song also hints at the idea of surrender in love. The singer is willing to let go of control and let his partner take the lead, trusting that she knows what he likes and wants. The line "Your fantasies there written for the fools" suggests that he is willing to be a fool for her if it means experiencing this kind of intense love.

The Cars were unique.  They came in during the New Wave sound and defined it with this song as real rock.

+rvhawkeye Their line up was unique too. Only the drummer didn't have two jobs. And he probably did backup a couple times too. A lot of sound out of 5 guys.

+marci mars It's one of the most fun songs to play on Rockband.

Unique is a great way to describe them . I came across some cruddy article that called The Cars a 80's Sugar Pop Band and I am guessing the writer has never really listened to The Cars ,know their history and was certainly not born until the late 80's or the 90's . I remember my aunt always playing Candy O ( with the Shoo Be Do into) in the late 70's and thinking it was the most unique sounding thing I had ever heard . It was like Science Fiction married rock and while they released more Pop sounding music later they were never a Pop group . I love all their music .
I hate that just because they survived well into the 80's they got that Pop Stamp just like The Clash , Ramones , Queen and a rare group of other bands that were able to jump from one decade to the next and still remain unique and relevant .
