I honestly don't think this album was supposed to be taken too seriously, it's just a way to put an end to their story because Beyonce has been very vocal about not giving interviews so everything that she needs to say needs to be said through her music. For me, 713 and apeshit are classics and make their ways into my playlists every month.

Glad I'm not the only one that's not into the song Friends, definitely feels like a more empty, meandering moment on the album. Overall though, I do enjoy the album quite a bit. Boss is an absolute banger, I think if anyone can sell this song it's Bey and Jay, Lovehappy feels so soulful and organic, and I really enjoy Apeshit too, I think they did this beat way more justice than some of the cuts of Magna Carta. But hey, your opinion is valid, I'm just glad that we got a review for this album at all 😏🍈

I never heard of this artist but I’ve never heard anybody talk about how Smash Mouth from their debut album Fush Yu Mang sounded amazing as fuck with their ska punk style. Padrino probably takes the cake as the best song on the album, especially with the guitar intro that sounds like it belongs in The Godfather, but then it transitions into a sweet, upbeat song about the mob. Heave-Ho completely caught me off guard with the pure punk sound where the opening riff reminded me of Operation Ivy. And then later in the track Steve Harwell Walking On the Sun feels like it shouldn’t belong on the album but is still a solid song.

This album is a gem, Vegan Lord. Please inform everyone about how underrated early Smash Mouth was.

I know you don’t revisit projects you initially considered mediocre, but I think you should give that Freddie take another listen/ proper review. It holds up surprisingly well after multiple listens despite its lack of complex/ diverse beats and subject matter. Idk i just get like you did after my first few listens and then grew to appreciate it way more as it sat more within me. maybe I’m just Stanning tho

You finally did it! I was waiting for it. I've been following Beyoncé's work since Self-Titled. I was expecting so much more of this album and I think it carries a lot of cultural pressure because of the status of Bey and Jay as very succesful black artists, but the reality is awkward as you said. Compared to their other works is too poor for current the moment of their careers. And in 2 years even the beyhive will have to agree.

I think that the hype about this album comes because it is Beyoncé and Jay-Z and that everyone thought that this album would be great, because their latest solo efforts have been great. That´s just my opinion. This is one of the most overrated albums of the year, because the fans don´t seem to like the album. I think that this is why it debuted at number two on The Billboard Hot 200 and did not live up to the expectation that people had for this album to be a SMASH HIT worldwide. The comments that I have seen from the concert footage from their latest tour also shows me that people are getting tired of Beyoncé and Jay-Z. When you push music down over peoples heads and constantly releases new music and uses the same method for releasing, for a number of years, people are going to be tired of you and they are now becoming very predictable in my opinion. All the media attention and the arrogant manor from Jay-Z and Beyoncé, have finally affected their carers. Jay- Z and Beyoncé should consider taking a break, get into contact with your real emotions and take care of your three children. That´s just my opinion. I´m starting to get very irritated at Beyoncé and Jay-Z and their constant search for attention.

I feel the exact same, except my favorite tracks are your least favorite. APESHIT is so fucking hard I can get over Jay Z's meager performance. Beyonce went insane on that shit and the beat is ridiculous. I suggest driving and listening to it.
As well, NICE was the other one I enjoyed.
But Summer and 713 were just a bore imo.
