The Cast of Cheers were formed in 2009 in Dublin, Ireland, by lead vocalist Conor Adams and bassist John Higgins, who recruited Kevin Curran on drums and, after the recording of their début album, they asked Conor's brother, Neil Adams, to play guitar live. They released their first album 'Chariot' in February 2010 on bandcamp.com for free. It received over 150,000 downloads and netted them a nomination at the Choice Music Awards. Their second album, 'Family', was produced by Luke Smith, ex of Clor and was released on July 20, 2012 through Schoolboy Error/Co-Operative Music, and debuted at number 37 on the Irish Album Charts.
To date they have supported Blood Red Shoes, Howler, Bloc Party, Alt-J, Two Door Cinema Club and Bombay Bicycle Club.

Wait for the words you say you never
Could tell me, no
You never would you never would
Forward,
Dull like the safe of night
You will come on you will come on
Down here,
Likewise a likewise,
You never could tell me no,
You never could you never could
Always,
A blackbird to paint the calm
You never could taste the fa-all
You never would you never would
(Melody part)
Thrown out,
Well well you like a man [who] can
Tell you shut the door
You were tonight you were tonight you
Were
I know,
Somwhere between the lines, between
The lines of fo-o-olds you meant to
Fall
(Chorus)
We are animals, don't you know
We savages and beasts but keep in toe
We are animals I heard you say-a
We belong we belong together
(Melody part)
Now I,
You're welcoming you're welcoming you
Never could tell me no,
You're welcoming this fa-a-all
You're word,
Things you never said, you never
Said, you never said,
I will knock you down
(Chorus)
We are animals, don't you know
We savages and beasts but keep in toe
We are animals I heard you say-a
We belong we belong together
(Change)
(Chorus)
We are animals, don't you know
We savages and beasts but keep in toe
We are animals I heard you say-a
We belong we belong together
The Cast of Cheers's song "Animals" seems to be a commentary on the primal nature of human beings, conveyed through the metaphor of animals. The band sings about waiting for someone to reveal their true self, which is compared to the "safe of night" - something that is secure and hidden. However, the desire to uncover this hidden nature lingers on, and the band urges the subject to "come on" and reveal their animalistic side. The lines "Always, a blackbird to paint the calm, You never could taste the fa-all" suggests that the person is always seeking calmness, but never indulging in more tempting or gratifying experiences.
The lyrics in the chorus are more explicit in their comparison between humans and animals, with the band emphasizing that they are all "savages and beasts." However, this shared characteristic is what brings them together as a community - "We belong together." It's almost as if the band is trying to convince the subject of the song to let go of societal norms and embrace their natural instincts.
Overall, "Animals" is a commentary on human nature and the primal desires that we all possess. While these desires can be scary or unsettling, they are a fundamental part of who we are and the band encourages the listener to embrace this natural side of themselves.
