Family
The Cast of Cheers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I will need another home
I will need another family
I will need another loan
I will need another...
I will need another home
I will need another family
I will need another loan
I will need another...

My hand, my heart
My heart, the floor
My eyes keep moving never closer to the door
My hand, my heart
My heart, the floor
My eyes keep moving never closer to the door

They all keep spilling and they all want war
They all keep spilling and it′s all out war

My hand, my heart
My heart, the floor
My eyes keep moving never closer to the door

I will need another home
I will need another family
I will need another loan
I will need another...
I will need another home
I will need another family
I will need another loan
I will need another...

My throat, my hand
My eyes, the door
My throat keeps clearing every filling at the floor
They all keep spilling and they all want more
They all keep spilling and it's all out war

They keep-keep coming and they all want more
They keep-keep coming and they all want more
The walls keep coming and scratching at the door
The walls keep coming and scratching at the door

I will need another home
I will need another family

I will need another loan
I will need another family

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Family" by The Cast of Cheers speak to the experiences of a person who is feeling overwhelmed and looking for an escape from their current situation. The repeated refrain of "I will need another home, I will need another family, I will need another loan" suggests a sense of desperation and a desire to completely start over. The use of the word "loan" could also imply financial struggles and debts that are contributing to their feelings of being trapped.

The verses describe the physical reactions that this person is experiencing due to their stress and anxiety. The lines "My hand, my heart, my heart, the floor, my eyes keep moving never closer to the door" suggest a sense of paralysis and an inability to take action. The repeated reference to "the door" could represent a way out, but the person feels unable to reach it.

The lines "They all keep spilling and it's all out war" could be interpreted as a reference to the chaos and conflict that this person feels surrounded by, either from within their own family or from society at large. The repeated refrain at the end of the song emphasizes the need for a new home, a new family, and a new loan, reinforcing the sense of desperation and the desire for a fresh start.

Totally forgot this band existed, so glad I have found them again. 😎👌

There were many other bands playing math rock music way before foals yet everyone seems to cling to foals like they are some wonder band of a completely new style. Music develops from older bands influencing newer bands, this may sound similar to foals but they also have songs that are very different. Besides, I'm glad for bands like this who are keeping more of the original math rock sounds alive. In my opinion, Foals are falling into the trap of mainstream pop music influencing their style and I think their new stuff is losing their signature sounds. Anyway, loving The Cast of Cheers right now (:

Ya and Minus the Bear has been around for a long while, plus they got inspiration from so many others. Spot on comment.

I wonder why people are so obsessed with putting music in genres. And what do you mean with mainstream pop music? Maybe 'my number', but that's it..
