Time Warp
The Cast of Rocky Horror Lyrics

Time is fleeting
Madness takes it's toll
But listen closely
Not for very much longer
I've got to keep control
I remember doing the time-warp
The blackness would hit me
And the void would be calling
Let's do the time-warp again
Let's do the time-warp again
It's just a jump to the left
An then a step to the right
With your hands on your hip
You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane
Let's do the time-warp again
Let's do the time-warp again
It's so dreamy, oh fantasy free me
So you can't see me, no, not at all
In another dimension, with voyeuristic intention
Well-secluded, I see all
With a bit of a mind flip
You're into the time slip
Nothing can ever be the same
You're spaced out of sensation
Like you're under sedation
Let's do the time-warp again
Let's do the time-warp again
Well I was tapping down the street just a-having a think
When a snake of a guy give me an evil wink
Well he shook-a me up, he took me by surprise
He had a pickup truck, and the devil's eyes
He starred at me and I felt a pain
Time meant nothing, never would again
Let's do the time-warp again
Let's do the time-warp again
It's just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hip
You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane
Let's do the time-warp again
Let's do the time-warp again
The lyrics to "Time Warp" from The Cast of Rocky Horror Picture Show are a playful and nonsensical tribute to the absurdity of the movie's plot. The opening stanza sets the tone, with the singer acknowledging that time is fleeting and madness is taking its toll. The song then encourages the listener to join in a dance called the "Time Warp," a move that involves jumping to the left, stepping to the right, putting your hands on your hips, and thrusting your pelvis. However, the dance is not just a way to have fun; it transports the dancer to another dimension where they are "spaced out on sensation" as if under sedation. The song concludes with a spoken-word interlude about a mysterious man who takes the singer on a ride in his pick-up truck, ultimately leading to the conclusion that "time meant nothing, never would again."
Line by Line Meaning
It's astounding
This experience is amazing
Time is fleeting
Time passes by too quickly
Madness, takes its toll
Lunacy can be burdening
But listen closely
Pay close attention
Not for very much longer
This event will come to an end soon
I've got to, keep control
I must maintain composure
I remember don' the time warp
I recall performing the time warp
Drinking those moments when
Savoring those memories when
The blackness would hit me,
I would be struck by darkness
And the void would be calling
I would be beckoned by emptiness
Let's do the time warp again
Let us revisit the time warp
It's just a jump to the left
A slight movement to the left
And then a step to the right
An advance to the right
With your hands on your hips
Place your hands on your waist
You bring your knees in tight
You contract your knees firmly
But it's the pelvic thrust,
However, the movement of the pelvis
That really drives you insane
That truly excites you
It's so dreamy
This is such a surreal experience
Oh fantasy free me
Oh, unshackle me from this fantasy
So you can't see me
So you cannot lay your eyes on me
No, not at all
Absolutely not
In another dimension
In a different realm
With voyeristic intention
With the purpose of observing
Well secluded, I see all
Privately positioned, I witness everything
With a bit of a mind flip
With a slight change of thought process
You're into the time slip
You are now immersed in the time warp
And nothing, can ever be the same
And everything will be altered permanently
You're spaced out on sensation
You are overpowered by the feelings
Like you're under sedation
As if you are under sedative
Let's do the time warp again
Let us experience the time warp once more
Well I was walking down the street
One time, while strolling down the road
Just a having a think
Merely lost deep in my thoughts
When a snake of a guy gave me an evil wink
When a suspicious-looking man gave me a sly look
He shook-a me up, he took me by surprise
He startled me, caught me off guard
He had a pick up truck and the devil's eyes
He had a vehicle and a wicked look
He stared at me and I felt a change
His gaze made me experience something different
Time meant nothing, never would again
Time lost all meaning, and would never regain it
Let's do the time warp again
Let us perform the time warp once more
It's just a jump to the left
A slight movement to the left
And then a step to the right
An advance to the right
With your hands on your hips
Place your hands on your waist
You bring your knees in tight
You contract your knees firmly
But it's the pelvic thrust,
However, the movement of the pelvis
That really drives you insane
That truly excites you
Let's do the time warp again
Let us do the time warp once more

Here's the thing....the original has a B MOVIE feel too it....EXACTLY as it's supposed to...the later productions are WAY to "professional"
all these people, with GIGANTIC voices blowing out windows and the roof off just Totally overwhelm the play AND don't fit in with it AT ALL....they're Screaming right over the Scene itself and right over the Characters.
There's these trained singing instructors who have put out vids on youtube....and they're saying, rather snarkily, "you know, nobody in Rocky Horror was a Trained singer"....GOOD!!!!
For instance, Susan Sarandon....not the strongest voice But GOOD, her voice was, like her character, vulnerable, naive, innocent.
But these later singers just do NOT get that across with their on steroids vocals.
Same EXACT thing with Barry Bostwick.
And Richard O'brien ....his voice, as part of the character, conveyed creepiness, maliciousness etc....but the guys doing that character Now, just belt it out, with no character or regard for the scene At All.
I saw one guy do Riff Raff's song from the tower window and, at the end, he just tacks on some random note that he bellows out for no reason other than demonstrating "Look what I can do"....what director lets that go on??
it's nuts!
and TOTALLY distracts from the song, the mood, the character etc

I took my girlfriend to see this last night at Wimbledon... i was dressed as 'some guy called Eddie' at her request and she dressed as Magenta. I had no idea what i was in for but i can honestly say, one of the most fun experiences i've had. Brilliant time, lots of costumes, memorable songs and everyone went WILD as Frank came out. I didn't really know what Rocky Horror was about until last night, didn't know the characters or songs or anything but i'm a total convert now. It's silly, it's naughty, it's VERY funny and i can't wait to see it again. Thank you so much.

Absolutely brilliant. 💯 went to see at the theatre in June. They were all outstanding

I have an opinion on this whole video that I have to tell the puplic now.
1. The "original" sound which run up and down back in the time in our radio is stuck in my head so I cannot listen to this without saying I hate it. But
2. I love the look of the cast and their expression
3. I love the dance
4. I have watched the musical on video and now I wanna see it live. I hope this or next year will happen something
