Between those years and venues, Enigma Records was lucky enough to release their first record "Joy Rides for Shut-ins" in 1988. Enigma folded in 1989 and the Cavedogs were signed to Enigma's parent label, Capitol, who dropped them in 1992 after releasing "Soul Martini."
Rocking is what they did. All the members went on to release solo material.
Leave Me Alone

Leaving me with wounds from what you said
There is one thing that I can plainly see
A hundred faces making fun of me
Leave me alone
Can't you hear me
Leave me to my only piece of ground
The things I want just will not come around
Some you talk to just will stop and stare
Picking up the pieces here and there
Mixed into the ground around my feet
Looking for what's there to let me speak
Leave me alone
Can't you hear me
Leave me to my only piece of ground
You've beaten me till I can't make a sound
The Things I want just will not come around
Leave me alone
Can't you hear me
Leave me to my only piece of ground
You've beaten me till I can't make a sound
The Things I want just will not come around
The Cavedogs' song "Leave Me Alone" expresses the grief of a person who is often subjected to pointed speech and ridicule. The lyrics describe how the hate and insults directed towards the singer leave wounds in their mind and heart. The singer describes how people often make fun of them and how they are picking up the pieces of their shattered self-confidence.
The lyrics "Can't you hear me, leave me to my only piece of ground" indicate that the singer just wants to be left alone in their own space, free from ridicule and hate. The last line of the chorus talks about how the things the singer wants just will not come around, illustrating how the singer is struggling to pursue their dreams because of the negative energy surrounding them.
The song is a compelling commentary on the emotional cost of bullying and hate speech. The Cavedogs articulate the complexity of this issue, emphasizing how it is not the physical act of bullying that hurts the most but rather the emotional scars left behind.
